The Weekly Shocker

I hear ya, just because we don't completely agree does not mean we're arguing. We see it differently, I'm good with that because you actually took the time to explain why so I see your point. I don't agree with all of it but I understand why you feel that way.

;) no worries.

I can't recall the game, could have been NE, but my wife has been trying to learn more about the sport. We were at a local pub and right after we kicked one of those "1st half red zone FGs after gaining 0 from within the 5yd line", I was quiet until the FG went through and then just blurted out an F bomb (loudly). she looked at me and said, "but we're up - what?". And I said "FGs from within the 10 come back to screw you." They hit another one and she was so proud and was said "see its going to be ok." I said "All it takes is 1 drive. 59 minutes and one stupid drive beats you with 7 points after running them all over the field." Sure enough - happened.

Last week we watched the Sea game, same place, she blurts out, "You cant kick FGs from there, its like kissing your sister." She becomes a big hit at the bar, gets kudos for being knowledgable fan, and i just stayed quiet and proud :). We won, but I was fuming at the play all game until 5 minutes left in the game.

I really enjoy most aspects of all the games, the Ints or fumbles dont annoy me as much as settling for FGs from 5 yds out. Miss one and I about get ejected.

"At some point in time, our head coach has to learn how to trust those front five guys and the running back he has,'' Smith said.
Smith believes a broader statement would have been made if Garrett ran the ball in that situation.

"When you get in goal line it's time to man up, time for the front five guys to grow up and understand what the NFL is all about,'' Smith said. "We had run the ball effectively. You have to build on that faith and that confidence.
"For a young offensive liie that has not had a lot of success running the football, that was an opportunity to reward them and give them the opportunity to show that they have improved.

"There are points in a game where you have a chance to set the tone, set the tempo and build character for an organzaiton and team. That was one of those moments.''
Thank you, Emmitt. Couldn't agree more...

In his Defense, I begged him to use this title this week (thanks shock!). :p:

I need electroshock therapy after reading this thread.

I know the Packers are giving up a ton of yards, however, I looked and they are 18th in points allowed and #1 in interceptions (16 total -- 2 a game) and #2 overall in turnovers forced.

I know "bend but don't break" is a bit of a cliche, but it seems to fit the Packers defense quite nicely.

It's a bit misleading, imo. Their offense is so good teams have to throw a lot and get one demensional against them, kinda like the Saints used to be. You also have teams throwing in desperation like Rivers did to end the game from behind. It still counts as a pick but it's several of them are when teams are launching it hail marry style.

Anybody ever consider, Jason knows this team better than anybody. Understands the strengths and weekneses better than anyone. Maybe, just maybe the OL line being young and light in the britches sucks at running the ball with 9 in the box.
see the view from the couch-couchscout.
Its all about talent and matchups. IMO, playing calling is overrated. For example;in the Pats game Garret only made one play calling error, that was the second and 12 run call. Ist down you have to run to try and work the clock. The Pats blew that play up. The mistake on second down leaves you facing a 3rd and 14. That would have played into the Pats hands. Hindsight, i would have love to see Romo fake the hand off and boot leg the other way, it would have been wide open. But dont think his injured ribs allowed for such a play.
