Romo is almost always listed on a list of the best practice squad players.
All that said I am not certain if that really occurred or not.

I know he was eventually on the 2004 roster as QB3, I just don't know if he was ever on the PS that season.
Not sure I understand fully the timeline on the QCar/Chutch/Henson/Bledsoe/Vinny era anymore.

He is routinely credited with having done so but I could just be repeating bad info like a mantra and I hate that.

Jt I don't think romo was ever on PS or Peyton or shanahan would have stolen him

Tony was never on the Practice Squad, although that rumor keeps making it around. Too many teams were interested in him.

I don't think the practice squad was an option for him. They had to protect him on the roster as you indicated.
