I find myself getting anxious about the practice squad, but then I wonder if it really matters. The Cowboys or any team have the choice to sign any practice squad player from any team to their 53 at any time. That's 320 players to choose from.

There are almost always some players that end up on IR during the season at which point the Cowboys will need to sign a replacement. They can choose from any of the 320 available players.

Bad teams do have a slight advantage late in the season in that they can dump veterans who won't return the following season and sign developmental players from practice squads. A bad team could dump a Danny McCray and sign a guy like OT Isaiah Battle from the Rams practice squad.

I would think that in today's NFL, that players are developed pretty well by being on a practice squad.

So many guys come into the league just not ready. The PS is perfect for them
Some need to develope physically, some need to refine their game, but what ever they need it's the ideal place to continue chasing their dream

My only issue with a practice squad is I would rather have those players with our team day to day in practice under this system and weight training and conditioning programs than some where else.

Jermey Parnell came off the saints Practice Squad

Yes the almighty Jermey Parnell!! Such an obvious upgrade to Doug Free, but the powers that be in the Cowboys organization are just too blind or short sided to see it.

If Parnell had been available for the same salary as Free, he would be our RT today.

and if Parnell was as good as Free for the same price he would be the starter at right tackle.
