The Yankees are ABSOLUTE MORONS!

If revenue WASN"T divided, the Yankees would have quadruple their money. And teams like KC, Pitt, SD Milwaukee etc would cease to exist.

The Yankees are Baseball.

And that's why the NFL is the King of Sports. Baseball is a joke.

:laugh2: Derek Jeter was just named top Brand in MLB, I gave you a link and people are disputing it :lmao2: :lmao2:

I love this place.

Jeter's facial recognition >>>All

Jordan & Tiger , in the US in 2000 were behind the Great Jeter. And prior. And he's been #1 a few times since.

You cannot argue fact.

Ichiro? what?

LEARN TO READ you ******r. The guy just made you look like a fool and you still try and convince yourself and others in here that Jeter is the most recgonizable person in sports. Sad. You must have a learning disability.

Wrong, our selfish, idiot owner Broke away from the NFL and cut side deals , Nike, AMEX etc, he broke the old boys network/rules where everyone gets a piece.
JJ like George didn't wanna share his dough.

As the Great GS once said, they wanna share my profits, how bout my costs? and overhead? do you now what 200 Local 3 Union Scale Electricians cost in NYC compared to the rest of the U.S?

But he is, and has been on more than one occasion. Show me where I'm wrong.

All those side deals don't come anywhere near the revenue disparity seen in MLB and all those side deals do nothing as far as allowing him to spend more on payroll than anyone else.

No they dont get 100% of proceeds but it's simply ignoring the obvious to believe for a minute the Yankees wont get back 100% of Jeter's contract from proceeds of ALL Jeter related memorabilia.

I like you SDogo, but you are way way off base. The Yankees absolutely cannot make up $51M over three years in strictly Jeter memorability. People just dont' buy that much. Especially when they've already loaded up on it over the first 15 years of his career. I mean you don't honestly believe the fans buy brand new Jeter jerseys every year? Not only that, but today many of the fans would already own a Jeter jersey and will purchase a CC, or Lee, Crawford, or whoever else they *might* get.

well he said US so i think jeter is more recognizable than ichiro just in the US. but having said that, there is no doubt in anyones mind that peyton manning is THE most recognizable athlete the last couple of years, and before that it was tiger, before that it was MJ. it has NEVER been jeter
I would say ALI has something to say about this.

Oh the Yankee's weren't going to let Jeter go.

Nor should they.

He should retire as a Yankee.

He's one of the all time Yankee greats.

It's not like he's a bum...so they overpayed...you think the Yankees care.

:laugh2:

The Yankees had to resign Jeter.

And the final terms were much more in the Yankees favor than they were Jeter's.

$51M for 3 years for a 37 year old shortstop that while still decent is clearly in decline isn't in Jeter's favor?

If Jeter produces 80 percent of his 2009 season in any season of the contract, then yes, that is a bargain. People act like because he had a down year, and won a Gold Glove when he shouldn't have, that he can't play anymore.

I agree that they overpaid, but they print money. What do they care?

The Yankees weren't going to let him walk.

If you're not a Yankee fan then you don't understand the dynamic.
