dont misunderstand. I am not saying this. I am saying this is the perception of cowboys fans. Loud, fair weather hill billies. That is the stereotype.

Obviously that is not the case, but when some guy goes on you tube and says over and over "cowboys are going all the way" and things like "we will win because we are the cowboys, americas team" that plays into that stereotype.

Its annoying.

Do people really think if they came out with a Suit and Tie on, using advanced vocabulary and are very soft spoken that all of the sudden opposing fans would have a different opinion of Dallas fans?

I doubt it. Those perceptions are deeply ingrained and they would actually have to get to know serveral people from this area to really change their minds, imo.

Personally, if you remove the Cowboy gear and maybe just maybe change the accent (probably couldnt tell he is a Cowboys fan by his accent but just for arguments' sake) you have very common and garden variety football fan in the the United States of America.

I have seen the cowboys in cleveland, philly and buffalo. In buffalo and philly I got yelled at to go milk a cow, have sex with my goat, date my sister....the usual. funny thing was I lived in NY and was from there, still living there at the time.

Then I moved to Dallas four years ago and I go to alot of rangers games. in the summer of 2004 I went to the yankees rangers game at the ballpark, my uncle was with my wife and I and he introduced me to the pastor of his church and his wife...He mentioned that I was from ny and grew up a die hard yankees fan...She promptly said to me, in all seriousness, "when are you going back", "arent you going to scream and yell and get drunk like the rest of em" and my favorite "how many of you liberals have to move here"

that was from the pastors wife!!! lol funny stuff. My wife and I cracked up. I was like now I am being stereotyped as a new york liberal on welfare etc.....

ITs like when I moved here, before I changed my ny plates to texas plates, We used to get looks like, why dont you go back to where you came from...........then every year since we have moved here I have driven back home to central ny, with my texas plates. Last year My friends and I went to syracuse to go to a restaraunt we like and I drove, in the parking lots I was getting looks like, where is your cowboy hat and your wranglers...

That's exactly what I am saying bro. Who is ignorant in this equation? The people around you who accept, believe, and perpetrate the sterotypes. IMO they come off looking incredibly stupid.

Let me give you an example. I grew up in New Mexico. I have run in to people who have no idea that is in the United States of America. I'm serious, no earthly clue. I've been asked about exchanging pesos to dollars, how hard it was to learn the language and was beans my staple diet.

Let me tell you how ridiculous it gets. The valedictorian of my high school when I was a Freshmen applied to Princeton University. He got a letter back from Princeton informing him that they had a full contingent of "foreign students" and thus could not accept his application.

Princeton!!! I kid you not.

He wrote them back and said he had no interest in going to a college that did not know New Mexico was in the United States. He got back an apology letter with his acceptance to Princeton. He attended Yale.

Stereotypes scream of ignorance. But you already no that as evidenced by the post I'm quoting. Just laugh at it.
