Honestly, I would say he has to win two to be worth what he is asking for.

He's not a one man show out there.

However, honestly, I think he could pull it off with this team.

The money isn't important. Fans want to make it so, but this is monopoly money. So the idea of winning one or two championships to be worth the money is ridiculous. It's a game. It's not driving a tanker truck and cleaning out port-o-potties. A truly disgusting job. The money comes out of the pockets of the owners. Granted they make money from the team, but that doesn't truly affect me and my TV set.

The real issue is Dak making progress. And understanding the team concept. Romo got credit for no defense, even when he threw game losing interceptions. So apples to apples.

If this team this year pans out to have a defense in the top ten, and the offense we as fans expect from the play makers on the team, then Dak should get to the NFC Championship game. Win or lose that is real progress. Anything after that is a bonus.

Were that to happen, then next year, health considered, this team should be able to get to the dance and make it a game in the last two minutes. Meaning they are enough ahead to win without it mattering. Or they are making the championship drive.

All the rest of this hand wringing is nonsense. Put the team around him, then judge. Show me then, Dak.

If he cannot do that, then he needs to go. But know this, if they have to jettison Dak, this is start over time. Because Andy Dalton is the answer to only one question.

Who in the NFL looks like Carrot Top?

So Romo zero championships = was never worth the big bucks he played for. Awesome.

love Ware and he is right. Its SB or bust for Dak. MEANING, Dak screwed the pooch if Dallas doesnt get to the SB. As much as I love Dak, he has painted himself into an awful corner.

It’s laughable that winning SB’s is only validation for a franchise QB.

You want to take up a big chunk of the salary cap? You better win something.

Look at Brady, he's light years better than Dak. He took almost 10 Mill less than what Dak was offered.

Tom Brady is 42 years old and not as good as Dak. Good hustle though.

Absolutely not for every franchise, but fans do set the expectations.

Winning QBs do set the standard, as evidenced most recent with Mahomes success and thus record setting contract.

So in answer to your question, not every roster validates having to have a true franchise QB,, guess franchise is in ones interpretation, but if Im a GM and I look at where my roster talent vs pay roll vs cap just doesnt add up for the short term, than Im rolling with a FA Cam Newton type of FA or bringing in a Rook to develop, but if I have a pretty talented and deep roster and the last piece is at QB, than Im doing everything possible to find the best fit there.

Just paying top dollar does not mean that you have addressed that, just throwing money at a problem does not address the problem.

Evaluation and determination equals investment worthy, and as some want to anoint the term "franchise" worthy.

Not having a "franchise" QB on a SB contending ready roster is an issue more than a problem,, so I would say that Dak is an issue more than a problem, but not an issue that cant still play under the tag, with fingers crossed.

Doesnt matter what side of the fence you are on as a fan, all the hate vs hate in this forum is laughable to me, and why I refuse to engage and respond to most of the trash that gets thrown around, I prefer to try and interpret what this team is presently, rostered players, cap, coaching, and front office.

That is the ultimate equation, and no matter how much as a fan that you like or dislike any of the above, the reality is that Jerry doesnt care about you or your opinions, and thats just reality.

I really honestly believe that Dak had no clue that he would ever end up on the franchise tag at this point,,, but that just my opinion.

YOUR BARKIN up the wrong tree. I am a Dak guy. I been saying exactly what you said! I am only stating the mindset of the Jones family. By many accounts, fair or not, they have a sour taste in their mouths after how he and the agent dealt with this contract stuff. As you know, Jerry is very unforgiving on these things. Winning solves all this and makes it go away. But as you said, he needs all phases to do their jobs.

I would disagree. I wouldnt say THE ONLY. It sure does help that process though. Its the pinnacle of NFL FOOTBALL. Why wouldn't a SB win be validation? lol
