Anyone remember how devastated the Rams were when
Trent Green went down. They had to put there whole season on some guy named Kurt Warner.

I think Bland will be solid on the outside replacing Diggs.
As long as the pressure up front continues, it's all good.

Don't get me wrong. It sucks to lose #7 but here we are.

You mean GET to a NFC CG
No, because just getting to the NFC championship doesn't mean you'll win, and go to the SB. That's why I said, "until we WIN the NFC championship", which by default means we're going to the SB. Basically, until it's guaranteed we'll be in the big dance, people need to quit picking out their suit for the big dance.

Not a super bowl but I remember the playoff game we lost to Seattle (The Romo slippery ball game). I was so certain we would win that because the entire Seattle defensive backfield was injured. I am fairly sure they even had to start someone they signed that week who had not been playing, because they were down so many men. But they won.

SB/Conf champion winners who had major injuries but did NOT have a HOF QB:
  • 1985 Bears- lost 2 starters on their vaunted defense and won with non HOF Jim McMahon at QB.
  • 1990 giants- lost starting QB Phil Simms to injury and won the SB with backup QB Jeff Hostetler. Neither QB was a HOFer.
  • 1991 Wash team- won a SB missing starting RB, 2 OL and Mark Rypien at QB. Not a HOFer.
  • 2000 Ravens- won SB with a great D and non-HOFer QB Trent Dilfer.
  • 2003 panthers- won an NFC championship missing two OL starters and nearly beat the SB champ pats, losing 32-29 with non-HOFer Jake Delhomme at QB.
  • 2012 ravens- won SB with tons of injuries on both sides of the ball and won with non-HOFer Joe Flacco.
  • 2013 Seahawks- overcame injuries on OL and had non-HOFer (IMO) Russell Wilson at QB.
  • 2017 e-girls- won a SB with backup and Non-HOF QB Nick Foles and several key starters injured.
Its clear. Nice to have a HOF QB. Many SBs are won by HOF QBs. But it’s an excuse to act like not having a HOF QB or some injuries kills your chances.
Simms would have been a HOF had he QB'ed that 2nd SB team and he really got them to a place that allowed Hostetler to win, it was really Simms win. I thought he got a raw deal not getting more Hall consideration.

Until we win the NFC championship game, everyone needs to quit talking about super bowls.
We can talk Super Bowls all we want. We are fans and we go for it all. It's our right to do that and you are in no position to tell us otherwise.

Pete Hunter I believe. To add insult to injury he was a former Cowboys washout. That game was decided by 3 things, Romo’s drop on the FG, a bogus call that Witten didn’t get a first down, Terry Glenn fumbling at the 2 yard line and most importantly their defensive coordinator completely out coached our offensive coordinator. Wait that is four things. But we lost that game because their defensive coordinator smoked us and he smoked us with 3rd and 4th string guys. I believe Pete Hunter was working at FedEx on Tuesday and beat us Saturday night.

Since 2009, there have been multiple NFL teams who have lost starters and even stars who missed big chunks or even the whole season and STILL won the SB.

Warren Sharp did a study posted back in Jan, 2023 showing teams that won SBs despite a lot of games missed due to injuries between 2009-2022. Here are a few teams since 2009 that won a SB despite a ton of injuries:
  • New York giants- 2011- won the SB despite losing multiple starters that year.
  • Green Bay packers- 2010- Big Mac has lots of experience managing injuries. His 2010 packer team was a hospital that year.
  • New England pats- won multiple SBs in that period with multiple injuries.
  • New Orleans saints- won a SB in 2009 with more than a few injuries.
I know it’s normal to feel bad about the Travon Diggs injury. He is certainly a loss but this kind of thing happens to even really good teams and they find a way to win anyway. Maybe our fans are still thinking like the Garrett days where missing a single starter for multiple games was known as a losing streak. Doesn’t have to be that way now.

2010---was exactly my thought as soon as i read thread....they had so many injuries and won super bowl....yes they had Rogers....but big Mike knows

about adjustment when injuries occur

I always refer back to the dolphins undefeated season...most people don't realize that one Mr Earl Morrall (sp?) actually was the QB for at least half the games that year.

Mr Griese gets the accolades.

Mr Bland will do fine

Go Cowboys!
watch tape on Bland...how did he not get picked up in earlier rounds?????.....he is such a natural...we are OK....the PLATS may increase??

Last time dallas went to the super bowl the started with Deion on one side and Kevin smith on the other.. Smith tore his ACL and Brown played the season … right to Super Bowl MVP
and Larry Brown was not real good but that MVP got him big contract with Raiders next year
