There Is No Scenario Where Dak, CeeDee, And Micah All Get New Deals With Cowboys

The Vikings did just that today.
But they did so after spending a Top 10 pick on a QB this year.

It is true they do not know what they have in him yet, but I think it is a different scenario than this scenario.

The closest that Dallas could come to that is spending a 4th round pick on a former to Top 10 QB pick.

One that has had some exp in the NFL and to this point has not done much with it.

Micah will be the highest paid defensive player ever.

CeeDee will want more than Jefferson who just became the highest paid non-QB ever.

Dak will want to be the highest paid player ever.

That would be the highest paid ever at defense and offense PLUS the highest paid non-QB ever all on the same team.

No. Chance.
The Cowboys will have anywhere from $83 to $100 million of cap space next year. This does not factor in the expected cap increase for next season so the actual figure could be close to $120 million.

They can pay Dak, Lamb, and Parsons top dollar, structure the deals correctly, and still have a minimum of $20 million of cap space left over. This has been reported by multiple independent media outlets, including Cowboys Report by ChatSports on YouTube.

Remember, average per year does not equal the cap hit per year. All the Cowboys have to do is increase the guaranteed money to each player and spread the cap hit out across multiple seasons. Or, convert their base pay into up-front bonuses and spread the money out that way.

So, to say there is "no scenario" where Dak, CeeDee, and Micah all get paid is flat out wrong. In fact there are multiple scenarios. Now, it's the Cowboys' decision if they want to do it. If they don't want to, they will cry "cap" and a large number of fans will believe them.

Reality
This team has paid dak before. They over paid for Zeke. They paid for Tank. For the most part they pay the guys they have drafted and that they love. It is not something new.
Now extend this way of operating to the last 28 years.

Saying “there is no scenario” in which Cedee, MP and Dak don’t all three get deals is just an opinion, which on an opinion forum is fine of course. But it cannot be said that is a fact.

Just for the record I’m neither a “Dak hater” nor a huge “Dak fan”. I’m a Cowboys fan and if a guy named Joe Nobody is a better QB than what we currently have I’m all for it. I know there are very strong opinions on our starting QB and that’s all part of this ongoing discussion. Always been that way.

If moving on from Dak means we get better, I’m all for it. I might even support that if a trade could produce something better or even a higher draft pick or even releasing him at the end of this year. But this front office has two very bad habits that give me low confidence:
  • They usually lock on to a QB even after their time is up and they are unable to put the right kind of support around that QB (see Romo and Dak- Both good QBs that were/are incapable of carrying a team on their own)
  • They have drafted one QB in round one and that was when Jimmy was here. And drafting a young stud QB is at best a 25-40% chance of hitting a home run. Of course you can’t get a great QB if you don’t try.
If I were to make a strong prediction, it will be this- this FO signs all 3, whether or not that’s what’s best for this team or not. Let‘s face it, these guys have yet to show they know how to build a championship roster in the cap era and their management of the cap is not great.
There's no realistic scenario where we can sign all three to record breaking deals.

I'd go with letting Dak walk and trading Parsons.

Just a bit different because I believe Parsons is more likely to not live up to the contract than Ceedee would
What incentive does Lamb have to be here though if there’s no qb? If Lance can play then yeah they should look into trading Dak and Micah. We would just be wasting Micah’s prime anyway.

The question is not if it is a good or bad situation
The question was whether it is a No Scenario or not.

Jerry had his way of overspending for outside and on team FAs with no superbowls for years.
Stephen took over with doing the polar opposite with not wanting to pay hardly any outside FAs.

Little and Big Enos can not get out of their own way to see a little meeting in the middle.

It is more than likely the Cowboys sign all three. CeeDee 1, Dak 2, and Micah 3. That appears to be the Joneses plan.

I am not sure how it will play out...but I think it would be crazy to pay CD that kind of money and have no idea what you have at QB
I'd argue it's more important to have an elite level WR if you have uncertainty at the QB position. It will be a lot easier for a young guy to have success in the NFL with weapons around him. You go full on fire sale and that is where teams end up with these long rebuild phases. They pick top 10 every year but can never develop their players, especially QBs, because they have zero help around them.

There absolutely is and it's exactly the formula the Cowboys have followed this offseason. Nearly zero free agent help, let the fringe guys walk in free agency for comp picks, and focus on retaining your guys who sell jerseys. Not saying that is the best route to go, but the Cowboys have absolutely set themselves up to go that route if they choose.

Lance has played the major the QB snaps in just 3 games.

He’ll get his chance.

Playing him is a win/win.

If he’s great then great. If he's not the we’ll get a high draft pick.

It's happening right in front of his eyes, yet he refuses to realize why the Cowboys did not resign other veteran players who left this offseason. The Cowboys clearly are going to sign Dak, CeeDee and Micah to record deals.
Plus all the draft picks they have accumulated for 2025. The picks are to replenish the roster. I actually like that plan. For some reason posters and local media seem to ignore what is right in front of their faces.

Not always a win win

If you play and he does well...Win
If you play and he does not and you get a high draft pick ...Win if you see losing as winning.

But what happens if he just plays so so?
What happens if he plays just good enough for the Jones boys to pay him too much But not good enough to be as good or better than Dak.

What happens if Dallas plays him, he sucks and they get a high draft pick. But they get a high draft pick in a draft that has a bad batch of QBs or they take the wrong QB and he turns out to be another Trey Lance, Johnny Football or any number of high end QBs that have bombed in the nfl.

Again...whether you hate Dak or not. There IS a scenario that all three get paid. Might not be this year, Micah could be next year...but still a real scenario where it can happen and saying that it can not is living in denial.

Good Idea, bad idea...should go a different route...does not take away from a NO SCENARIO situation.

Ok, you can have the last word on this topic as I tire of seeing that damn avatar.

Based on what?
The fact that they're all still on the roster. My gut still tells me Dak is gone after this year, but that may be by his choice and not the Cowboys. If they were 100% ready to move on from any of these guys the really should have done it months ago while they could have traded these guys for help in other areas.

What they have been doing and saying all off season. Stephen said multiple times the money is being saved for the big 3. You and your group seem to ignore the facts.
Based of what the people that told you they were “all in” said?

You got nothing but your hope.

The salary CAP is projected to increase by around $20 million next season so it is possible to keep Dak, CD and MP if it keeps jumping.
