There is not enough Dak hype on this board

I'm glad for every new angle that builds the excitement for the next game. And it's ironic, because I believe if the Cowboys are known for anything, it's that overhype is their poison. But I'm thrilled that the Cowboys have crossed "backup QB" and "QB of the future" off their shopping list. Focusing on other things makes them better overall.

I'm still stunned at the fact that our front office accidentally stumbled upon their future franchise QB and face of the franchise for the next decade.
I thought that was how they did it. You mean Jerry knows another way to find a QB?

I'm excited him and zeke are the main reasons to watch this season.. this isn't a lost season like last year even if we go 7-9.

I know, right??!! Just seeing Zeke rip off a 60 yard TD once or twice, or the weekly carving of the defense by Dak is enough for me. I'm looking forward to every week! I hope it's better than 7-9, and I think we'll be in the playoffs THIS year. Regardless, I'm enjoying the season.

Kudos to you for the positivity, brotha :) I don't see us as a playoff team, but I won't take anything away from you for feeling the way you do. Love the enthusiasm, especially after our nice 2-1 start (The thread title is still a head scratcher, tho)

Ya I became disinterested last year after room went down. Knowing there was no chance at a sb. Even though there's no chance at a sb this year I'm still excited about the future.

The rooks are only gonna get better. They have huge upside. This team just might manage 9-10 wins THIS year if health permits.

When Tony went down, I predicted a 6 win team in the early season prediction thread, but after watching our D make some very nice stops, and some key turnovers, I can see us hitting the mark that you are predicting.

Add to that the phonemona that is Dak and it makes it that much more viable. When Tony comes back I think he shreds the opposition, opening up the box for Zeke to gash.

My only hesitation is our D, but the bend-don't-break way they're playing thus far is surprising the heck out of me. I still think we will get mashed on by the more formidable offenses we have yet to face, but 9 wins doesn't seem too far out of the realm of a possibility. Of course, if Dez is out or DLaw's back injury persists, we may find ourselves clinging to late and close games more often than I'm comfortable with, leading to losses that Romo/Dak just can't stymy.

We need Garrett to step up and gameplan and adjust this team to its shortcomings. Tough task, considering how many holes we have on D

I'll just say I don't think he has played a very good defense yet. So far he has been great and we are gonna get to see him against better opposition.

Waiting until after the Bengals and Packers games before I start hyping him up as our starter for the year. I still think he's the future, but I believe those two games are going to have everyone walking away saying "Yeah, he needs another year. Time for Romo to return"

Gabe and the rest spamming the board will then disappear and come back under new usernames.

Really? So if Romo goes down you think the season is over? Or are you more the caring sentimental type?
Grasshoppah, if or if not Romo goes down is not the issue. He is, by many accounts just one hard tackle from perpetual IJ.
Rather, lad of the Midlands bogs, let us look to the future!
Romo, in his late 30s, is not our future. Rather than prolonging his usefulness, Romo is so ... 2014. And, before that, 8-8 seasons.
As to the more sentimental type or no... I feel I am more the crying on the inside kind of clown. No pretenses.
But, anyway welcome to our forum, Howard.
You seem very, ahem, able to type words.

I patented the 'Dak Attack'. Do I get a gold star? How about an all you can eat at Golden Corral?

I would seriously tear down on some Golden Corral but the lines are always incredibly long! Is there like a secret time to go there, where you don't have to wait 45 minutes to get your grub on??

Not sure we have one here!

I think maybe you have missed the multitude of Dak threads and posts, or are exercising your sarcasm muscle. Either way, Dak Mania is in full force.

I am not one of those who believed that Dak could unseat Tony as the starter, and I am still currently of that opinion, but if Dak runs the table and gets to a 5 and 1 record or better by the time Romo returns, I am not sure how things will play out in that regard.

Dak is getting better every week, and he is starting to stake a pretty good claim on the starting QB job. I am not convinced that Romo, who is still the better QB, would be able to post a 5 and 1 or 6 and 1 record in that same span of games and you have to judge a QB by wins. That is the ultimate yardstick. This is coming from the biggest Romo fan in the building.

I think they will hand the team back over to Tony when he gets back. If Tony sets the world on fire then he keeps the job. I think if we see the gunslinger Tony who costs us a game or two with poor decisions or ball protection then the crys for Dak will be deafening.

In an odd turn of events, Romo may be learning something from the rookie, which is taking care of the ******* ball. No matter what anyone says, Romo feels the pressure now that Dak is putting on him to play to a superior level. Competition brings out the best in people. We may just see the best Tony Romo ever when he comes back if he still has it in him.

Even though the whole commentator world seems impressed with Dak, I find myself still searching out doubters who finally comment, "Yeah, Dak's got something special" It's funny to me, seeing so many Cowboy haters double down their hate when they see the talent that's being assembled on the roster.

Dak's performance in preseason trumped all starters and backups across the league, and he is regularly mentioned among the veteran starters week after week in the regular season. But if there's a new angle to discuss with Dak, it is this:

We have the future at quarterback on this team. That means, now that the offense is solidly stacked with Pro-Bowlers, the scouting department can turn its full resources toward acquiring defensive stars. It will get good really fast, when free agency comes around next year, along with the draft. We have a great quarterback at a cheap price for now.

Getting a premium player or two will turn this around quick, with a healthy DLaw and Jaylon Smith, possibly Gregory. But even if that is not happening, we will add 3 starters to a Defense that is playing above their pedigree, by a long shot. The future is bright because the team can focus on acquiring defensive talent.

Thanks, Dak!
