There is only one positive about yesterdays loss

Deep shots don’t have to require play action.
Very True. But the deep shots that come off of play action are still among the best IMO. Single covered with no safety help over the top because they have stepped up to stop a running play that wasnt.

That’s the part that bothers me the most. If you’re ‘loaded at receiver’ as we like to think we are, how do you not even threaten a secondary of backups in the secondary?

Take note that our offense was shut down by the same guy who did it in 2017 with Denver. And that the Broncos also did it again this year. Both knew how to stop the Cowboys offense. Man up on their receivers and you won’t be challenged over the top for doing it.
And they were missing there 2 starting DE also and not only 12 runs only but no tosses or sweeps or off tackle runs. Shultz holding call on Elliot’s long run was a killer but also looked like his hands were inside the shoulder pads. Not to mention I saw more than one play that our D-Line was held from behind with no call.. The missed fumble at the end. And of all times MM used all his time outs. Lol.

Definitely. But they were getting a lot of single high safety looks anyway and never tried to take advantage of backup corners. By the time they did, it was too late.

That’s the scary part. If we face Arizona again, they will be even stronger because they will be healthier.

Dak needs to do nothing but study them. He knows the egirls. If we play them again he can’t play like that. He had to fire that ball and back them off.

It would help if his play caller called some downfield plays too.

I said if everything is clicking we can beat anyone. There are probably 15 teams that can say the same. IF IF IF. If everything isnt clicking we can also lose to anyone.

The only game I can point to is perhaps the NE game and even that required a busted play in OT.

I think the offense (qb and coordinator) are to concerned with efficiency and numbers that they don’t challenge defenses down the field due to higher risk or interception, too conservative. If a defense isn’t concerned about you going deep then it makes their job a lot easier.
A long interception is just another punt, just as likely a PI call.
If the Cowboys take a few long shots early it opens up the underneath stuff.

In that 1 loss by the Patriots did their offense look like they had no clue as to how to play football? Because the Cowboys looked just like that yesterday. The QB looked like he had never thrown a football in his life or had consumed a vat of alcohol before setting foot on the field.

Yes that's exactly how they looked. The Giants handed them their ***** all game.

Right or wrong I have always believed that the more games you win in a row the more likely you are to have a clanker. You dont want that clanker happening in the playoffs as it would send you packing for the year. If a team has put together a strong winning streak,....a late season loss isnt so bad IMO.

And dont give me that old law of averages flipping coins thing about how one game doesnt affect another. I dont believe that and never will. A coin is an inanimate object. A coin doesnt have nerves. A coin cant get a swelled head, nor can it feel stress. A coin cant begin to let over confidence creep in. Losing sucks. But I have always believed a late season loss under certain conditions isnt so bad. Gives the coaching staff a chance to lay a good tune up " butt chewing" on the team ahead of the playoffs to keep them focused and get an edge to them.

BTW.....even the great coach Landry wasnt immune. He has MANY seasons that went like this.......win four in a row....lose one,.. win four in a row,....lose one. It got so I almost expected it. Lots of 12-4 seasons.
I see your point, I get it. better to lose now than in the playoffs. Hopefully this is something to grow on.

Not on the edge but at the same time not the type of 60 minute showing I was expecting.
Facing another good team and the offense looks like they haven't played in 4 months and the defense was a bend don't break style.

The final score doesn't show it but they were just lethargic on offense for 3 quarters and while the defense held them to a "low" score most of the game they couldn't get their offense off the field. Multiple 3rd down conversions and the Cards didn't have to punt that often. Only saving grace was forcing the FG instead of TDs.

Defies logic and common sense.
Can't argue. But I did notice Cooper specifically jogging in his route on the left side and Prescott went through his progressions and couldn't find anyone. Not sure what that's about. But when Wilson came in, he seemed to find a way to get open.

thanks for that tidbit re the defensive coordinator

Coop is probably growing weary of Dak. Not that it’s a valid excuse, but anyone that has played sports at any level can probably relate.

Something else, but a bit off the subject. I believe that out of all the spurts on NFL network the ONLY one who picked arizona was the analytics woman, cant remember her name. It actually worried me a bit because she is quite good. Now get this..........she had the game 25-24 Arizona. Now think about that a sec. If we had made the easy F.G and had not been forced to go for two at the end which is an out of the ordinary type scenario,...the score would have been exactly 25 to 24,.....just like she said. Pretty damn amazing if you ask me. I'd like to get a hold of all the numbers she is using and HOW she uses them. I think I am going to keep a sharp eye on her picks and score predictions the rest of the way.
