Ndamukong Suh
Where he should go: If any executive is willing to take a flier on a veteran whom other teams consider past his prime, it’s Broncos president of football operations John Elway. The man loves his vets (see: Flacco, Joe). Suh could cause havoc and play from multiple spots on new head coach Vic Fangio’s defensive line, and he’d be bolstered by edge rushers Von Miller and Bradley Chubb, which might be even better than seeing him play alongside Aaron Donald.

Where he will go: Dallas needs to bolster its defensive tackle rotation, so bringing Suh on makes sense. The Cowboys don’t have the long-term cap flexibility to sign him beyond this year, but they are one of the more logical spots for a 2019 arrangement.

Tre Boston
Where he should go: Dallas. The Cowboys are tied for the 25th-most takeawaysin the past 10 seasons. In the last two seasons combined, Dallas has 19 interceptions, tied for 29th in the league, while Boston has eight interceptions in that span, tied for the sixth most for all players in that period and twice as many as the nearest Cowboy, Jeff Heath.

Where he will go: Dallas. The team didn’t seriously pursue Earl Thomas in free agency despite his “come get me” pleas, missed on Eric Weddle, and passed onthe promising safeties on the board with the no. 58 overall pick (Delaware’s Nasir Adderley, Virginia’s Juan Thornhill, and Washington’s Taylor Rapp) to draft defensive tackle Trysten Hill. Safety is the biggest hole Dallas has left, and Boston could be the difference between Dallas winning the NFC East or not.

I'd do a jig if we signed both those guys.

But we won't. Boston is a non-starter with this organization no matter how well he'd fit in our scheme. And I think history has shown us this team simply doesn't put a lot of financial resources in the DT position. Suh, even on a one year deal, would still command a pretty large one year pay day.

But if you brought those two in:

DE - Lawrence, Charlton
3T - Hill, Collins
1T - Suh, Woods
DE - Quinn, Armstrong
WLB - LVE
MLB - Smith
SAM - Lee
CB - Jones, Lewis
CB - Awuzie, Brown
FS - Woods, Heath
SS - Boston, Iloka

That's a potentially dominant lineup.

Would have no excuse with that defensive lineup

And if you omitted the contract of the defensive lineman you omitted on your list, you'd have a great deal of Suh's contract cost already paid. And you would actually have a dominant force at defensive tackle to go along with what you already have.

What financial trouble are we facing next year?

It's annoying hearing people talk about Dallas that don't know anything about Dallas.

Did you sleep through FA man. This is like the 4'th wave of free agency

They either are simply clueless or are projecting the numerous big contracts expected to be signed to put the team up against the cap with little room to do anything but sign their own guys.

The roster is pretty much set until maybe the 3rd OTA or mini camp. Then it will be a few bottom rookie types churned at that time.
There may be some movement right before TC also.

If any vet players are brought in, it will be a week or so into TC. They want to see what they have before they start cutting players.
If is not one of those "we are like our guys" things, even though it gets said and we make fun of it. But all 32 teams like their guys right now.

Today is the day that no comp picks will be passed if signing any remaining FA.

Word is there is interest in SuH and Maybe Boston among Others.

JERRY and Stephen have both daid they arent done trying to make this team better.

I would not be against the signing of anyone aslong as they help us win.
Camp battles are the best battles

Thanks for the info. I knew it was sometime in May for that cutoff of comp picks. And actually forgot all about it until you posted it.

Yes that can come into play now for teams that did not want to offset any possible picks. I believe we are at even, so no picks, but have 5 FA still out there. But none of them was going to get a deal that would qualify anyway.

Does anyone really see us signing those guys until we have the extensions for Dak and Cooper (and probably Zeke and Jones) worked out. Boston wants (rumor wise)$2 million a year and Suh wants $10 million. Just do not see either happening and forget McCoy if Tampa releases him because he will be in the same range as Suh. Just not going to happen.
