Ware ended up with 138.5. I think Ware will get in, but I'm not surprised he wasn't first ballot.

Ware not getting it was absolutely shocking, it was a weak class and most media outlets were shocked

If you poll every coach in the league 90% of them would agree that Ware was a better player and had better career/accolades then all 5 modern selection players that where selected (Boselli, Branch, Mills, Seymour, Butler).

There was no logical reason why he didn't get it, it was simply the committee being petty and intentionally not putting him first ballot because they don't want him to be first ballot. He was clearly better then the 5 guys they selected they just personally didn't want him to get in right now.

It's like the complete opposite of the Michael Strahan situation. Strahan would of normally been first ballot but there just so happen to be 3 better lineman that where all eligible the same year (Larry Allen, Warren Sapp, Jonathan Odgen). Ware was the opposite, he was if anything over-qualified for the draft class but the committee was being petty

We all know Jason Witten will be selected for the HOF but he’s not eligible until 2025 at the earliest. I would say there are three former Cowboys who are closest to getting in. Here are the guys who as of now have the best chance of HOF induction.

• DeMarcus Ware- Was a semi-finalist in 2022 but didn’t make it his first yr of eligibility. Had138.5 sacks ranking him 9th all time on the NFL’s sack list. His 117 sacks with the Cowboys are a team record. Only Reggie White reached 100 sacks faster than Ware (96 games to 113). Ware had seven straight seasons with at least 10 sacks and led the league in sacks twice, with 20 in 2008 and 15.5 in 2010. Ware was a nine-time Pro Bowler, four-time first-team All-Pro and was named to the 2000s All-Decade Team. (Btw…in addition to Jimmy, when is D-Ware going in the ROH?)

• Zach Thomas only played one year in Big D. But he had a great career in Mia where he finished his career w/more tackles than Junior Seau and Brian Urlacher. More sacks than Mike Singletary, Derrick Brooks and Dick Butkus. More 1st Team All Pro selections than Kevin Greene & Andre Tippett. Thomas like Ware made the 2000s All Decade team. Zach Thomas should be in the HOF. In fact, HOF LB Brian Urlacher stated yesterday that it’s past time for Zach Thomas’ induction. He’s been very close several times.

• Darren Woodson- it’s crazy that Woody isn’t already in. He’s the Cowboys all time leading tackler and has better stats than recent HOF safeties like John Lynch for example. He’s already in the ROH, and when he played was a 4 time First Team All Pro. He has 3 SB rings and played in 16 playoff games a s a Cowboy. He’s got a decent shot to make it in the next few years.

These aren’t the only former Cowboys who are HOF worthy. But these guys are the ones who currently have the best shot at making it soon.

The fact that Ware wasn’t a first ballot inductee really shows how the HOF is a political joke at this point.

Come on BH - Zach Thomas' numerous & stellar NFL accomplishments in his career were with his first dozen seasons in Miami.
He is a Dolphins Pro Football HOFer - period.
This would be like the Denver Broncos claiming Tony Dorsett as "their HOFer".
Dozens upon dozens - probably now into a couple of hundred - players - ended their elite NFL careers with a last season (or two) on another team (or two). Some of those honored with their notable gridiron feats started their careers undistinguished on a first/former team before being traded or cut so a second franchise acquired them....then their greatness began.
There are some exceptions where a player put in enough great seasons on more than one team to be "clamied" - the late Kevin Greene, Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson for examples.

That's just the way I consider \ regard the former players that are deemed worthy of the induction ---with what team they primarily played for at their highest level -- which led to the recogintion and awards bestowed on them.

Right- I understand he’s going in as a dolphin. I included him in the OP only because he is a former Cowboy. But he won’t be in Canton as a Cowboy.
