I have to say after the Pickens trade and our draft I feel like some life has been given to us fans. We have a pulse again. We still have some work to do and I know Jerry is probably done but my wish list would have us getting these players.
1) DJ reader Trade or if cut would tremendously help our Defense
2) Nick Chubb 1 yr rental probably had reasoably cheap
3) Hilton or Gilmore Both Free agents that will not break bank, bring leadership and hold us over until DB room is healthy
None of these moves will cost us big financially, our depth would be strengthened and our overall team would be solid.
While Im dreaming sign Bland, Micah, Smith and Aubrey before training camp and get ahead of things.
Thats all for now. Enjoy your weekend

Alim McNeill is coming off an ACL tear and may miss the start of the season. I think the idea that Detroit is going to want to trade or cut Reader is just wishful thinking.

They aren't done.
I believe they are unless something they've already done fails. They have shown before that they will acquire players during camp or after camp if they need to. Now, these are rarely high-caliber players. It might be something like a Linval Joseph (last year) if the DTs are struggling or a trade for some depth piece on another team if our depth isn't as good as we think it is.

No argument from me, I just don't see how it makes us contenders. Besides Reader, no one is a difference maker. Is Reader holding out? Why would Detroit trade him to us?

Parsons and Aubrey will probably get signed. Smith is next year. The Cowboys do not extend their 1st round picks after 3 years. On Bland. I'm leaning towards them not extending him.

Yep looks like a plan

I'm in especially on Reader we could use that guy Jerry need to come up with a way to pry him away from Detroit

There was an overnight blurb a few weeks ago that they may be open to moving him. Saw it once and nothing since.

I don’t think anyone thinks there’s any legit reason for Detroit to need to make room at his expense.

Hasn't Chubb torn up his knee TWICE already?

If so, I would not take a chance. Like him as a player, but that knee is liable to blow up once again, especially for a RB.

Contention for what?

Dallas wouldn't be taking any chances. He's a vet minimum type player at 30. It's like throwing an extra bottle of water in the cooler. Can't hurt.

I think Reader could help but depends on cost. Not a fan of trading any picks in first 4 ends for older vets. I think Gilmore is possible but depends on how the CB’s we have look in camp.im fine with trying the RB we have

Dallas is being connected to a Jalen Ramsey trade again. I read last night that the Cowboys are one of the teams interested in obtaining Ramsey from Miami. I don't believe it but who knows what this front office is willing to do this year.

Just reader. Dallas isn't great at RB but what is left isn't much better if all are healthy. Dallas is good at CB right now. Bland, elam, Carson and the rook will hold things down till diggs is ready.

They will wait until TC to make any moves. They will see what they have now on the current roster. And will know better about the injured players and their status. They may end up being fine with who they have.

Do not need any progress stoppers during TC. As any of those players will not put them over there top to be SB contenders. But then again, if they will help make the playoffs, any can happen.

They may make a few bottom of the roster churning type moves after the OTA's and mini camp.

As for those players listed, I will say Reader is the one to make a move on. Possibly, how much does he really have left. But it does not need to be done now. And why does his name come up, and not others. I only see it proposed on here to go get him. Has any media person been saying this?

Also since they are all vet players, they may very well wait until after game 1. therefore their pay is not guaranteed. And once released when other players are ready, it does not count against the cap for the entire year.

McNeil's injury occurred late in the season, too. I forgot about that. But, the Lions have put resources into the DT position (premium draft picks). McNeil's backup is a 2nd round pick from same draft as McNeil (2021).

Reader is their NT and his replacement at 1 tech was just drafted in the 1st round (Williams out of Ohio St.). The writing is on the wall for Reader in Detroit. He has a year left on his deal. It is possible that Detroit tries to get something for him.

But, to your point, the Lions may hang on to him due to the need for bodies on the dline until McNeil is back. They could look to move him around the trade deadline if need be. They may not have a reason to move on from him now or before the season starts.
