Players do not play for teams; they play for money. There is no loyalty in the NFL. Just watch the players after a loss interacting with players that just beat them but they've got to play nice because they might soon be joining them.
The days of throwing a funeral wreath in the opposing locker room are gone. That's why I don't care if they realign to achieve more regional rivalries because the long standing ones are gone. Time was, it was a knockdown drag out but no longer.
The first sign of how FA would affect team loyalties was Sanders' obvious lack of loyalty going to the Niners, a division rival, then to the Cowboys a conference rival and finally to the Skins, a division rival. I am not critical of the players or the money they make but that has not made it a better game. There was a time I could put the $ out of my mind and just enjoy the games but no longer. It is really only about the $ to the players and I can't fault them.
