It's not looking good for LA. All signs point to the direction of LArry Allen no longer being a COWBOY :( :( :( .

I just pulled out some tape of him from 05 and I dont see what a lot you guys are seing. He still dominates his man. L.A wasnt the problem last year, it was that garbage O'line around him.

As a CWOBOY fan I'll be very disappointed if they show him the door.

Why wouldn't he restructure? He's not getting this kind of money elsewhere. I say cut him, see what he can get on open market and match it.

Sorry I disagree. Allen is old and slow. If he gets his hands on someone he finishes them . But he can't compete with any of the quicker player across
from him. He is still a decent player, but no where close to what he
once was. Give him a smaller contract or let him move on. In todays
times you can't hang on to a marginal player with a big contract

We're not hurting the cap room, it's not out of the question that we keep him @ his current salary. Is he worth 7.5 million? Probably not. But we still have something like 12 million in cap room....

you watched him and found him dominating his man?

you must have only seen the plays where he actually blocked his guy. his problem isn't what he does when he locks someone up -- it is that he misses so freaking often.

Im on the fence with the LA thing. As horrid as our line was last season with Flo comin back I think LA has another year in him. We might just need him one more season.

I would upset if we lose him. I hope they redo a deal for him. We dont have anyone better and there isnt anyone out there better to get. Keep him for a year or 2. If we are going for it this year we need him.

The problem is Parcells never wanted to run a power man scheme that the Cowboys used in the 90's. He wants guys who can move in a zone system and the players he brings in proves that. As long as LA is starting they have to run a mish-mash of both which just isn't working.

When I watch almost every big play we had this year on Cowboysvids.com I see Larry either being dominate or above average.

If he doesn't agree to play for about 3 million, he's got to go....he's no where in the world even close to being worth 7 million.

I agree to a point, I love Larry Allen to death, but to me, he should restructure. When Jerry Allen restructured his deals twice, he gave him extra bonus money to compensate him. Now its Larry Allens turn to help out, restructure to a 4 year deal, first 2 years cap friendly.

I am sure that Larry Allen can see that this is the year we make a run at the Super Bowl. I admit, dont know if were experienced enough on defense, etc. Yet, I feel we have a chance now. This would be the perfect time for him to go out on top. Or show he still can do it, and if he so chooses, to go to another team next year,, but having a good year this year. However, Id like to see him retire as a Cowboy.

On sweeps and traps, you can tell that Larry Allen is too old and stiff to get down and block. Linebackers now are just diving underneath him, they showed that on the last 3 games he played in. If its tight quarters, and man on man, straight ahead, Larry Allen is super.

Another reason why I want Larry Allen to restructure, it would help the cowboys, cap wise. At same time, maybe enable us to get another good guy in free agency with some of Larry's restructured money. That one other person with Allens extra cap money could be a good solid backup DT or NT, or maybe even getting Keyshawn back with some of that money. I have been watching the www.kffl.com reports and no news yet of Giants signing Keyshawn.

Maybe Larry Allen could see that, and realizes that it would help getting one more super player like Sam Adams or Keyshawn to help us. Like on offense, 3 WR's of TO, Terry Glenn, Keyshawn, with TE Witten and Julius Jones in backfield would be nightmares for defensive coordinators. And if one of our star wrs goes down, God forbid, we still have 2 good WR's with Patrick Crayton at 4th WR.

Guys who are dominating their man get contracts like Hutchinson's for what they are doing NOW.

LA got his for what he did in the 90's.

Let it go.

I'm ready to move on without him but I can see where others wouldnt be.

Afterall, I'm sure theres guys that would still want Emmitt as their every down back had he never left.. especially when aside from some flashes here or there it's not like we're lining up someone like Tomlinson back there at the moment anyway. ;)

Restructuring is the cowards way out.

We need to cut him and move on. None of this "oh we really love you Larry" crap. Just be done with it.

if they cut him it will cost them 4 Million anyways so better just keep him it's not worth it....Besides we have the MONEY, it's not like we're surviving on Nickles and Dimes.

But why keep him and pay him 7 million...that's still a 3 million dollar difference?

Financially, I think restructuring is out of question for LA. Why would he even play this year for 4 million when he can sit at home and take his 4 million?

Either we pay him his 7.2 million dollars this year (insanity in my opinion)

or We cut him and he retires.

or We cut him and he takes his 4 million from us and another 2-3 million from someone else on top of it....no way he's going to play for us for the lower amount and give up his 4 million....and I don't blame him.

We'll know pretty soon, but I'll be shocked if Parcells, who has never been a big LA fan since arriving in Dallas, goes along with paying LA the 7.2 million.

Sometimes a scrub is a scrub and you're better off using the roster spot on someone else.
