This is a lot of confusion on LA's situation. It's a tough spot as far as keeping him. His actual salary for 2006 is only 3.5m. That's what we'd save if we cut him. The 7.5 figure is his cap # which includes his signing and roster bonuses. The problem is there's nothing we can do about the signing or roster bonus amounts and the salary can only be cut by 30% according to league rules which is only about a 1m savings, assuming LA would agree to this which I don't think is that likely. So we either live with LA for one more year as is or close to as is or we don't. I'm guessing don't.

when you think of restructuring his contract keep in mind you are adding years to his contract. you can't cut his pay by more than 30% which is about 1 mil per year. and yes he can go out on the market and get more than that because that would make his salary 2.5 mil and he will get that. i think some assume he was worse than he really was, he di'nt play like a pro bowler but he did play pretty solid last year.he has 2 yrs left on his contract, if we don''t cut him next week means he will play out his contract because it goes down 1 mil next year anyways. not sure if restructuring is the right move becasue you get cap releif now but pay later

you watched him and found him dominating his man?

you must have only seen the plays where he actually blocked his guy. his problem isn't what he does when he locks someone up -- it is that he misses so freaking often.

As often as he may have missed last year, he was still the best blocker on the o-line, period.

Larry Allen should redo his contract all together so we can trade him.

I love Larry Allen ,ive seen this gentle giant just crush people through the years . I mean hes been great, the last icon of glories past. but hes getting up there now, not only that but hes started alot of games in the nfland that just wears you down , even if you can bench 600 plus.

Id like to see larry retire as a cowboy ,but business is business.

It's not looking good for LA. All signs point to the direction of LArry Allen no longer being a COWBOY :( :( :( .

I just pulled out some tape of him from 05 and I dont see what a lot you guys are seing. He still dominates his man. L.A wasnt the problem last year, it was that garbage O'line around him.

As a CWOBOY fan I'll be very disappointed if they show him the door.
His cap number is insane. I bet noone else will pick up that contract. His cap hit is water under the bridge...this year's salary and bonus is not. Seems pretty clear if you still want to be potentially active throughout FA and sign players all season as they go down to injury as well...jmo.

All of the people that say we should cut LA don't know what they're talking about. In case you were wondering, LA was our entire line last year. If it wasn't for him, Bledsoe would be turning in his retirement papers right about now. I love LA, and I can't believe all the haters who continue to say he isn't worth it anymore.

Grow up. Correct Business decision making doesn't make people 'haters.'

Maybe not, but it sounds like you could care less for a Cowboy legend, Mr. Mars.
That, Mr. Maroon, is idiotic. I don't care about him because I think a 6.5 or 7 million cap hit or savings is not caring about a legend? Like I said, grow up. It must be your bedtime by now.
