They need to look at the breaking the plane rule

The play that upset me was the Cooper fumble, forward progress had been stopped.
Also he was held in the legs by one player and another one hit him, which popped the ball. There is a rule which says thats illegal , I think

He did control it 'til the end of the play: When the plane is broken, it's the end.
True , but announcer also said it was already coming loose , so if a runner just flings the ball across the plane , will it be TD???

If it's coming loose before it crosses the plane, it's a fumble: I think last year Derek Carr experienced that at the hands of Jeff Heath.

You're thinking of a chop block. Does not apply to receivers.

It was not already coming loose. He broke the plain and then the ball was knocked out. Play over at the point of crossing.

No, he asked the question “was it” then clarified when he saw the replay 43 times that it was indeed a TD.
Barkley was lucky. He thought he was cute. Another 3 inches the other way and it would have been a fumble with Dallas taking it the other way.

and amend it to say the player must retain control of the ball until the end of the play. That Barkley TD was too close to call.
The key is by NFL rule, the play ends the second the ball crosses into the white goal line.

I hate the NFL and it's rules but this league s one rule that is great. This rule should never change

Absolutely not. We already went through this crapp w/ Megatron which led to the Dez non-catch and all sorts of nonsense.

Barkley had control when the ball broke the plane. It really wasn't that close. A better idea would be to get an even better D so we can stop people.

Wanting to change the rules just because they didn't suit us in this situation. Bad idea.

Exactly.
I don’t want to hear anymore “continuation” or “football move” BS.
The refs are already colossally inept without making them have to “think” about what they’re looking at.

That was a truly spectacular athletic play but it was also a dumb play. If Joe Thomas hits the ball instead of his forearm its a fumble and likely Dallas ball.
It was like Derek Carr when he dove for the pylon and fumbled.....not worth the risk

It happened to Lamar Jackson in the BAL game

the ball never broke the plane. it should have been reviewed. Dallas should have gotten the turnover.

I've never really liked the "it's a TD as soon as it breaks the plane" rule ever since I was a kid watching, but it is what it is. It's something I've never seen the refs screw up many (if at all) so as long as it's consistently called I'm good. Plays like the today are the only times it's ever even remotely an issue so it's way to rare of a case I think to consider changing at this point.
