They pulled me back in

I’m back in too. Not from a I’m expecting a championship in but from a we can be a playoff team again in. I’ve been begging for a calculated risk all offseason and last offseason. Pickens is exactly that.

My only complaint now is that it seems ridiculous to not pursue a strong interior defender earlier in FA. Feels like that may come back to bite us in the playoffs.
A trade for a top defensive tackle needs to be made ,I totally agree this needs to happen along with slot corner.

By the end of last year’s disappointing season, I was very much checked out and indifferent.

And when the Schotty hire was initially announced, even more so.

But I must admit that as the off-season has gone by, my interest has been rekindled.

I loved the assistant coaching hires.

I loved what they did with trades and lower level free agency.

I loved the draft.

I love the Pickens trade.

I think they’ve had a fantastic offseason and I’m eagerly looking forward to training camp and the upcoming season.

There's a sucker born every minute...me too buddy.

I want to be all in, but I know it's pointless with this front office.
29 years of mediocrity has just beaten the enthusiasm out of me.
I will watch the season with interest, but not going out of my way to watch the games.

Best to wait and see how it goes once the season starts before being pulled back in. I’m starting to see posts where the Cowboys are back and at least one fan is talking SB…TAP THE BRAKES!
For sure.

Fans are so tired of post season failure they want a real winner so desperately.

They are willing to drink the kool-aid too quickly.

Yep. Me too. I was thinking about not even getting Sunday ticket for the 4 games not on tv.

But no. I’m right back in.

- At the surprised departure of McCarthy (thank goodness !) ..i was more ready for a Ben Johnson or Liam Coen HC recruit hire .. someone who had placed some paint on the wall.
and impressive working credentials - someone that was gonna bring elements, schemes and a new brand way of thinking & maneuvering that we have not yet seen with these
past previous HC regimes.

- i sure as heck did not want the Deion Sanders HC - keep Prime at the college level, and no internal -ego- power control drama needed here.

- i am trying to ponder if Schotty (who also has OC experience like Johnson/Cohen, but was not near as innovative or creative as the aforementioned OCs).
was responsible for the Cowboys offense of 2024.
How much was McCarthy's doing... how much was Schotty's doing ? Whose offense was it really ?

Because if it were Schotty's total offensive responsibility - will we see that same offense returning in 2025 ?
What will be the difference between the McCarthy offense ..vs what promises will the new Schotty-offense bring differently ?

As a new HC, we will just have to see if Schotty is new Dan Campbell to be .. new brand of inspiring coaching, new ideas, new approach, new difference maker .
He either will be a Dan Campbell version ... or a vocal sales pitcher like Jason Garrett was ...
I don’t think Mike Martz or Mike Shanahan would’ve made a difference last year. When you’ve only got 1 weapon on the whole offense, not much you can do.

Pickens + Blue + Booker are 3 starters that are much more dangerous than who was in those spots last year. Given the 2 new great OL coaches I’m optimistic of what they can get out of Guyton.

Martin was never healthy and checked out before the season. Booker comes from having to mow people down under Saban. He’ll do wonders for the right side of the line.

Yeah well, im trying to stay optimistic even though i know on this forum, that can be rare.
The Pickens move should be an area of optimism but even with that some of us are concerned with the behavioral issues and impending big contracts.

It's just gotten so rare that they aquire an NFL player ( in their prime )that is far above average and has no baggage.

As far as your personal optimism?......I wouldn't want to change that for the world
