I have been a little hard on this guy and rightly so. If he is working hard and improving like Jalen Tolbert, he stays on the 53!

I have been mildly disappointed in Scott in the games so far. I think the lights might be a tad bright for him at the moment. There were a few instances Saturday where he was several yards away from what appeared to be his man. Now obviously we don't know if it actually WAS his man but he was the closest defender so that's all you can go by. If it wasn't his man then somebody else REALLY blew the coverage.
The issue I have with SCott is his tackling or lack thereof. He makes Diggs look like Ronnie Lott.

He's done pretty well when they've thrown at him, but it's a relatively small sample size. I've been an advocate of wait and see with him, and still think we're in wait-and-see mode, but with some better evidence than we've previously had. There are always some who want to jump ahead on these young players and either condemn them or praise them too much. Joseph had done well this preseason with the few plays he's been asked to make; that's better than doing poorly with the few plays he's been asked to make. It's an improvement that doesn't necessarily mean it's "coming together" for him, but we should be happy to at least see improvement.

And KJ has? Jeesh. Gimme the young hungry player anyday over the over hyped guy.
KJ has shown much improvement this year, mentioned earlier his targeted QB passer rating allowed is on 36.9 this year as opposed to 118 and 113 previous 2 years.

He also plays a key role on ST.

This is 3rd season, still a young dude at 23.

Look, Scott's not going anywhere, we moved up to secure him and he's a draft pick. He just isn't ready right now, and that's okay, he can develop.

But if anyone thinks we just give up on a 2nd round pick who has shown marked improvement and plays a key role on ST, they are just setting themselves up for disappointment.

I want KJ here, as long as he's getting better markedly.

This is really all we can ask of these kids. Work at your craft and get better. No matter how much of a hurry we as fans get into the kids are not all going to develop at the same rate. They're human beings not androids. Joseph might just be one of those guys who took a minute for things to finally click. He's not the first and won't be the last.

That's the other thing about Joseph.. Dude is young. His brain isn't even fully developed.. Almost, but males' brains don't fully develop until 25.

I'm not saying he'll be great. But he's definitely not nearly as bad as people try to pretend. He hasn't gotten the chance to be.

He'll make the team. His ST play has been good, and has been competitive at corner. Offers more than Goodwin at this point so its an easy decision to me..

I wonder if they've seen enough from Joseph to make him the #4, move on from Lewis and go with Scott or Wright for the 5th spot?
Goodwin is the player who doesn't really offer anything..

I mean I dont have a problem with him as long as he can prove to be effective against opponent WR1s and 2s.

Pre season performance based on level of competition can be misleading.

Fingers crossed on his actual improvement against opponent starters.

I'm going to have to agree with the other poster and disagree with you here. I don't get the degree of Scott love on here. It seems to be based on TC comments from media members on social media watching plays that we didn't even see ourselves. Scott has not been good at all in the two games we actually saw. I understand it's only two preseason games and in those 2 games he has probably played like only 60 plays. So, I'm not in any way stating he won't be a good player. I'm just contesting this idea that I read over and over again on this board that he has been playing so well. He was poor in coverage in both games. His run defense has been really bad and was not great in College either. He seems to avoid contact. Look at the first good run Seattle had to the right side. He was like 5 yards out of bounds because he followed his man the entire play and it wasn't even a pass and never located even though everyone else had and it was to his side. Look at the TD the first game at the goal line where he followed his man across the middle and completely gave up the edge and was looking into the backfield as he did it and should have been looking right at the handoff. Every time I've seen him in run support I haven't been impressed - admittedly I may have missed some plays and not seen others clearly. He will likely make the team and he should IMO, because he was just drafted just this year, but he has a long way to go to be able to play in a regular season game IF (stressing if) his preseason performance is indicative of who he really is right now. I am in no way a believer in Kelvin Joseph playing CB for us in a real game this year but he has been better than Scott in the 2 preseason games this year. Again, don't take this as me saying Scott won't eventually be good because I think he may be and I don't judge guys off of a couple of preseason games in their rookie year and especially when we don't even know what scheme they were in for sure because there is always some confusion in the preseason. I'm just saying he hasn't been good in either of the two games we were able to watch.
I was never really high on Scott, personally. I didn't like his 40 time on paper. But others like him, so I've been known to be wrong. It's not really that I didn't like him, just didn't know either way.

The player I was excited about was Fehoko, and I think he may contribute. But might need one more year.

The problem with Joseph is he was a superior athlete in college and was able to play off sheer athletic ability; in the NFL he is a JAG in that respect and has to develop the instincts, train and watch film…has to develop the intangibles in order to start in the NFL…that’s the difficult part.
The Dallas FO cannot keep selecting these types of developmental players in the early rounds of the draft. I think if you are a 1st or 2nd round draft choice the expectation is that you are ready to play and contribute right away. KJ is in year-three and thus far has played ST and sparingly in the secondary. In my opinion a poor use of draft capital.
