Things people are forgetting about Pettiti

And with as many excuses that have been made, he certainly better be vastly improved or there will be some people who will look pretty ridiculous with all the predictions of a huge rebound.
It's going to come down to each persons defination of "vastly improved" or "huge rebound" I can tell already. There is no doubt that finally healthy and much stronger he will be better this year.

So if he gives up 10 sacks all year will that be good enough to satisify his critics? 8 sacks? 6 sacks? What will be the ultimate measure he is judged by? Will Rivera's play be improved to the point that Petitti's critics will say that is the reason Petitti's play has improved?

The debate over this issue will extend beyond training camp, preseason and the regular season. Petitti's play will be highly scrutinized and gone over with a fine tooth comb for a long time.

as well as it should, I mean, there still is a 3-year rule for rookies, the improvements he makes this year, may be only minimal, but if he manages to start all 16 games again, minimize his sacks from last year, and makes some key blocks in the running game, that will be a much better year than last year, but conversely, if he bombs again, we may see Fabini starting and Pettiti will get another year to show himself

idk, next year shouldn't be a measuring stick for "I told you so" for either side, but alas...

Am I blind, or did nobody here mention that Petitti played the second half of the season with a high ankle sprain?

This poor guy has had some pretty tough critics on the message boards.

Yes he did play with a high ankle sprain, and I thought a bad hip as well. Rob is very tough and a hard worker, and on the O-Line those are the traits that you need. I am sure that Rob will be the starter again for all 16 games and our playoff run....

The guy looked clueless and overwhelmed much of last season. Who could forget him crying for help on the sidelines of the Rams game? I won't. It was embarrassing as was his play much of the season

If that doesn't change, no matter how strong he is, he will never amount to anything.

Did you even read the opening post of this thread?

Speaking of the STL game, Petitti wasn't the only one needing some help. The entire team mailing that performance in. At least he was out there (when he probably shouldn't have been) giving it what he could. That is more than I can say for some of our more high profile players.

I did, and it has no bearing on my opinion.

He was the only one crying on National TV looking like an utter waste of a space. However, that wasn't the only game he sucked in, that was the only one we saw him actually crying for help...

By the way we were talking about Petitti here nobody else. I commented on my feelings about the worst lineman on the team last year. Wait maybe I am being a bit harsh. Tucker was far worse, but he didn't play the entire year so the dubious honors of being the worst olineman on a horrible oline must go to Petitti himself...

Actually you are incorrect. It has been well documented and debated all off season that Tucker had a worse year than Petitti.

*** is codumented???

And who codumented and debated it, you guys??? Sorry but I like my opinion better.

They both sucked, one sucked for half the season, and the other sucked the whole season. If we want to debate the level of suckiness (if that is even a word). That may take a while...

Adam does all the stat work. It's in the archives if you want to look it up. Not to minimize your opinion, but the proof is right there for you or anyone to see.

I don't need to look at stats to know that Petitti sucked and that Tucker sucked. I already said who I felt sucked worse. Guess you missed that...

For playing the whole year in a downright crappy way, the worst olineman award goes too.....

{Drumroll Please} Rob Pettiti....

this is funny... People are saying PETITI will be better...well hello if he is not better he will be off the team!!! end of debate because once he is cut noone will talk about him!!!

its sink or swim with PETETI we have Fabini and Columbo and lord knows what the next offseason will bring in at the position!!! go out on a limb and predict he will be better... how can he not play better!!!

I love the 370 lbs excuse... did he forget he wanted to play in the NFL? u people act like he put on weight at gunpoint like in that movie Seven!!! he made the choice to get fat and it may have cost him his draft status (he was lucky he even got drafted) and his ability to play at a high or any level in the NFL... now all of a sudden he wants to get in "shape" oh okay... and how long will that last?

the stat excuse is a good one too... I do recall him getting help in every possible way so until he starts pass protecting on his own u can take those stats and leave them on that "proof" thread!!!

If the OL and Pettei were fine threads like this would not appear 1 every 3 days!!!

every position on the OL has to play better by leaps and bounds... every position!!! I could see if its just 1 or 2... when KYLE KOSIER is your only solid... I'm done!!! all I can say is I wont say I told you so!!!

mont, how old are you? Because you sound like you are 13.
If you had bothered to read up on Petitti, you would know better.

This is one of the few times I agree with you...

can you really expect a 13 year old to spell?
Perhaps not, but I do expect him to be consistent with his misspelling. When people misspell words or names, they tend to incorrectly write or type them the exact same way over and over again.

I hope Petitti can show major improvement but I'm also glad Dallas covered their bases and went out and got a vet player in Fabini in case Petitti continues to struggle

my biggest concern is: has he improved his footwork...he is stronger and that helps specially in the run game, but pass blocking is more about technique than brute force. a lot of his problems last year stemmed from his footwork, if his footwork hasn't improved, then he will still struggle at times.

I agree. I think it is great that he enters camp in better shape but based on what I saw last season it was not just strenght but his footwork. Too often the DE would get him off balance and got by him.
