But you can't deny that Jason Garrett had help in 2007 . . . a lot of help. Garrett was really Offensive Coordinator in name only. We took him from Miami in 2007 while he was QB coach there. He was under contract, and the only way he could come here was if he got a promotion. So they made him OC and made Sparano Assistant Head Coach. Garrett called the plays, but that was Sparano's offense (and a lot of Parcell's leftover philosophies). It was talked about ad nauseum here.

But just for kicks, let's add Garrett's 2007 stats:

Holmgrens stats still blows Garrett's out of the water. And considering the talent Gruden had to work with in Philly during those 3 years his stats are very respectable . . . I mean Philly was suiting up Randall Cunningham, Rodney Peete, Ty Detmer, Boby Hoying, and an aged Mark Rypien for QB while Gruden was OC.

I admit to not knowing how much or how little Sparano helped Garrett. I just think give the guy credit for the job he was given and that he carried out, and I guess my argument is that you had other teams ready to give him a HC job based on his performance, Sparano assisted or not.

BUT, I AM WITH YOU ON HOLMGREN anyway.

I would love to see Holmgren here as the HC. I think he is the one "retread" who would be more than a retread.

You can keep Gruden (no thanks), and Cowher (no thanks) and Shanahan.

But I think Mike Holmgren is a quality HC.

I'd love Holmgren here because I think he's the one coach that can calm Tony Romo down and get him to fully understand the game. Parcells had him on the right track and Romo's lost a couple of steps since Parcells left. The other guy I think would benefit Romo would be Steve Mariucci.

The only issue I see is of the 5 retreads, 4 of them are West Coast offense disciples. It will take any offense 2-3 years go really grasp the WCO. I wonder if Romo has the stamina and work ethic to go through that.
