I have been kicking around thi idea of getting a tattoo for a while now. I want to get one to celebrate the victory when I finally loose my weight. But I'm thinking of One sooner. I have a idea for a full moon with whispy clouds going past it with the Latin phrase "NOX NOCTIS EST MIA" under it.

This would symbolize to me my many many years of being a night owl. I have worked and mostly lived at night now for Thirty years. Plus it would look spooky and cool.

Wadda you think?
:)

That sounds pretty cool. You could also get an actual owl tatooed on you. Owls are nifty.

I'm drawing it up. Incorporating an Owl on a branch. Thanks for the idea. :)

I like that phrase, a lot. Count me in with the group who's circadian rhythms are in the wrong polar hemisphere.

There are a lot of pro and anti tattoo folks on this forum. Neither side is wrong because it is their body, their outlook. My outlook is that it is your body, do what makes you happy and many congrats on winning your fight with the weight.

Check with Hostile. He was looking into getting a tattoo of the Cowboys 50th anniversary logo on a soccer ball.

'Planning' on a tattoo?? I thought that was something you did at 3 am, train wrecked drunk.

Ya'll suck.

Cliff, our bodies are our temple. Graffiti on a temple just doesn't sound good to me. Why can't you have an artist draw you the picture and put it in your house in a prominent place? As others have said, it's your body, do as you wish. You don't need a tat to look tough or to appreciate the hard work you've done to lose the weight.

JMO, and I know some will hate that I shared again my distaste for tats.

I've always wanted a tat but have yet to find anything I wanted on my body for the rest of my life so I'll probably never get one.

Same here...How many women wish they didnt go through with that lower back tatoo?

For those of us that don't speak latin, what does the phrase mean?

I'm open to the idea of a tat but like Catch, haven't found anything I'd want etched on my body forever.

Just get a dog man, you can always kill it if it pisses you off..:p:

That's a great suggestion. Not for Cliff, necessarily, but in general. I haven't thought of it in that way before.

I found a tattoo I want to get.

It's an ambigram of a friends name who passed away years ago..

Right side up the tattoo says his first name, upside down the tattoo says his last name.

Here's the site where I got the idea.

Well, I got the idea when I saw a tattoo that Method Man has on his forearm.

Right side up it says "Life" and upside down it says "Death".

Thought it was pretty cool and wanted to see if it could be done with anything. Used the generator on that site to see if it was possible and in a lot of cases it can be done.

I studied latin for a few years... "Mia" is not a latin word, I'm pretty sure. Unless it's some ecclesiastical Latin (I studied classical).

If you're trying to say "the night is mine", it's "Nox noctis est mei"

If you really want to get creative, you could work in the word "abnocto", which is a verb that literraly means "to stay out all night". Make sure you get the right conjugation though. Talk to a Latin professor or something; trust me, they've got nothing better to do.

If it means something to someone, why cover it up? That's exactly what clothes normally do. So you make a statement (a purpose of tats I am told) when naked? Big damned deal.

I have a friend who is a Broncos fan. He has their logo on his arm. I told him, it's a shame to put it on such a scrawny arm.

If it was on his wall, I doubt I'd be dissing his pipes.
