I only pay $50 for xbox live for online play and it's well worth it.
Sony's free online interface...yeah, you get what you pay for.
I'm sure it won't be free for PS3. There's too much money to be made.

nop its free, if i can find the article i will post it, and i have played XBOX live and games have lag and bugs same as PS2.

It's quite simple...

If you're gonna play online a lot, get the 360.

If you play mostly single player games, it's a toss up.

Save your money for the PS3. It is faster, has a better graphics engine, and it's online play is second to none. The controller also isnt impossible to master like the damn tank Microsoft puts out.

:lmao2: It does have a huge controller

yes, you get lag occasionally but more often than not, you won't. I rarely ever get lag.

The number of "console exclusives" will be minimal in this next generations of games. Developers are starting to see that they lose out ($$$$$) by keeping a game exclusive to one console.

good point.

i will say i'm more than unimpressed w/AMPED 3. amped 2 was a blast but amped 3 is like a shag-a-delic headgame that's more annoying than fun and for all the horsepower in the 360, they sure chose to put in some LOUSEY graphics into that game.

Ps3's online service may be free but that means the developers can charge you for service on there servers and xbox's maybe 60 dollars for a year but the only way you can get charged if the developers (Square Enix did this) doesn't want to be on msfts servers and they will charge you

If you're into shooters, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is one of the best games on the 360 now. If you're into RPG's, Oblivion is arguably the best 360 game out now.

Fight Night Round 3 is pretty awesome also.

If you're a car guy, Project Gotham and Need for Speed Most Wanted are good.

And those of you that like a little suspense/horror, nothing beats a little Condemned.

Yeah what PS3 is going to do is nickel and dime you to death by having each provider (EA, Lucas Arts, etc.) charge for their games. Might be better just to pay the 50 bucks.

On a side note, im lovin my 360 but the back of it seems to be pretty warm after not to long of playing. Is that normal as the hot air is exiting there, or should I be concerned about overheating? Has anyone tried the Pelican fan stand or intercooler?

I use the stand with the slots for games on each side. I don't know if that's the one you're talking about.

How long is "not too long"? I play about 2 hours at a time (when I get the chance) and haven't noticed any overheating problems.

Where did you read that? The PS3 will have a built in hard drive too...
Last year just before the 360 launch I posted the specs for both in the tech zone don't know if its still there but at that time the PS3 was NOT going to have a built in HD and it would still rely on the memory card as it does with the ps2 now if Its changed since my bad....

EDIT: Just read that it will have a HD and here are the prices for the different sizes....

Sony is now planning to give the PlayStation 3 a simultaneous worldwide launch. The new system will be available with two different hard-drive options in Japan, the United States, Europe, and Australia in November. The console will hit Japan first on November 11. The 20GB model will sell for 59,800 yen, but Sony will let Japanese retailers name their own price for the 60GB version. The PlayStation 3 will launch in the United States, Europe, and Australia on November 17. The 20GB version will retail for $499 and the 60GB version will retail for $599 in the US, and 499 and 599 euros in Europe, respectively.

I still think the Hard drive would help you with that.;)

The fan on ours comes on every now and then, and it's pretty loud, but we've never had any problems with overheating. I think the consoles probably going to get warm no matter what, most consoles do that after an extended amount of game play.

$500 - $600

Wow.

I can't see it being worth that much more than the 360.

To simplify the next gen of consoles, think about them as a pc because that's really what they are, mini-pc's. With all the things going on inside your pc, if you were to reach around back, it'll be a little warm. The 360 and i'm sure the PS3 all have pc-type technology on the inside. With the components inside the next gen consoles (processor and graphics cards), it's going to run a little warm. There's a lot going on in there. The 360 has it's own fans internally which should be okay. However, if it still a concern, you should try the intercooler or the fan stand. I have the intercooler and it works well by drawing all of the warm air out of the console. I've heard of a few 360's overheating and in most cases, it has been because the ventilation has been bad. As long as your console is in a well ventilated area, you should be fine..

Well just bought my boy a 360 with the premium set-up. I'll probably get the PS3 as well, but the pricing seems a bit on the high side for the PS3..shoot 399 for the X seemed pricey too!

well, the "premium" PS3 is $200 more. it makes no sense to get sony's $499 idiot version with the smaller HDD, no HDMI outputs, no blu-ray player. The systems are too similar to justify paying that much for a PS3 at the launch price point. Exclusive games will be minimal. I'd rather get Nintendo's new console to go along with my 360 for their intellectual properties like the Marios, Zelda, and Metroids that I grew up playing. The new Mario game looks awesome. It does suck that their system is not really a next-gen console.

I think Sony made a huge mistake in having 2 versions of the system...they did not learn from Microsoft's mistake on that one.

I am waiting for the PS3 basically because I have loved the Playstation line and don't like the X-Box or 360 at all.

The wireless, Blu-tooth, and cheap Blu-ray player are just some of the features of the PS3 that I am looking forward to.

Plus Metal Gear Solid 4 is exclusive to the Playstation 3 right now and that is the only game series outside of Fight Night, Madden, and NCAA football that I play.
