I did a quick search and then realized there were way too many options and I'm not sure what to pick.
What are you guys thoughts?.

Not really.. I saw where you could get Super Mario, which I know would go over well in my household. And Just Dance. What do you want it for? Do you have specific games you want to play? That should help narrow down your search.
Nope.Are you 12?
Wii U?
playstation 4 or xbox one
But why? I say this with all seriousness. I really don't know the difference so I'm not picky about either.
Xboxone is a great gaming system that has good media options. Great streaming options, download options, interfaces with tv's and dvr's well.
PS4 is a superb gaming system. Plenty of streaming options. Their upcoming VR stuff looks to be done well.
Both systems you can expect to be around 6-10 years with tons of developer support.
Wii U...always lagging behind, poor developer support, subpar game set, poor controller, dont expect it to be around 6-10 years, doesnt interface with much else.
We have had a Wii U for two years now and it was a great buy due to the age of the kids in my house. It is far and away the best family gaming system on the market as their exclusive games are all safe for kids whereas the PS4 and X-box exclusive games tend to cater to teens and above. My 8 year old daughter loves Just Dance and the Kirby games, my eleven year old loves all of the Mario and Zelda games and we can all sit down as a family to play four player Mario Kart, Mario Party and others. The majority of the family games that the other two systems offer are also sold on the Wii U, so there just hasn't been a legitimate reason for us to consider an Xbox one or PS4. Might change when our oldest hits thirteen though.
Feel free to PM me if you want additional info.
From a family standpoint, those are good points. I think from a future age perspective, that matters, but this isn't a gaming heavy household either. Definitely something to consider.
So what about the Netflix and Internet stuff? Any thoughts on those?
It has the obvious. Netflix and Hulu are the two most used ones (We are a a cable free house) and it streams them absolutely fine, but the streaming options are not up to par with the offerings of the other systems.
In my mind, it really comes down to preferences and how you use the console. If you are just a passive gamer that enjoys light hearted games or want to enjoy games with your pre-teen kids, then Nintendo has always been the champion of that. The Wii U and whatever comes next after it will dominate that niche market. If you want to play Mario Brothers titles, well that is Nintendo owned so the Wii U is what you want. If you are a more passionate gamer that looks for a robust gaming experience with mature titles then it is a slam dunk to go for the PS4 or X-Box. All of this is just my opinion.

Edit: Oh, one final thought to consider. I suspect that Nintendo "may" try to introduce a new platform around Christmas 2017. That would probably mean the Wii U would have about three to four years of new games. X-Box and PS will not be coming out with anything new for a good long while.

I'm not a gamer, but the Internet-accessible stuff would go over well, too. I have an older TV.
Nope.
Thank you for the feedback!
I think what killed Nintendo is that the WiiU doesnt offer the same inventiveness the the original did that make it a good "side console " What really helped Wii outsell PS3 and Xbox360 is that it gave PS3 and Xbox360 users a reason to buy it.It has the obvious. Netflix and Hulu are the two most used ones (We are a a cable free house) and it streams them absolutely fine, but the streaming options are not up to par with the offerings of the other systems.
