I hear ya Skip and understand your feelings. Personally, even if I knew in my heart it was just for one last season, I want him back. But, yes, he does frustrate me from time to time and this is one of my biggest reasons. However I believe the game has not passed him by and his conservative game plans have more to do with the team he is coaching then anything. Parcells isnt stupid if he was coaching the Colts offense he would not game plan the same way. This guy has an eye for talent and is an excellent coach IMO. I do understand where you are coming from as it might be better to commit to someone else long term than have him back for one year, which is probably the most he will stay.

BTW, are you the Skip from the old sportsonly cowboys board? If you are we go waaay back. Used to post there many moons ago, under a different screen name. Think bigdogcowboy used to post there too.

Yes I am same Skip from the old sportsonly board.

I agree the game has not passed him by, but I don't want a "Soap Oprah" from him every year since the end is coming at some point. I would love it if he signed a 2 year extension giving us at least 3 more years and him fulfilling it.

THERE IS NO ONE ELSE OUT THERE BETTER, that is available.....

You'll never know who's avaliable because we are waiting for Parcells to make a decision.

If and when we start looking for a Coach...I think people will be surprised who will be avaliable.

Ahh memories. Anyway I completly understand. His decision may prove me wrong but how much does this soap opera have to do with the media and message boards like this. Right now we know nothing. But one Chris Mortensen report (get those ratings) and the media spin plus fans on message boards have blown this up way too much regardless of his decision. Again I could be proven wrong as I usually am. But I still feel he is the best man for the job.

What I would love most is for him to say 'yes' I will return even if for one last year. Yes, many will disagree, but at least this way you have time to find a replacement and know he has one year left to continue to build this team thru the draft (which he has done very well) and get them in a position to stay competetive for a long time.

Right, all he had to do was say yes I am coming back and all this would not be happening right now. He had the power to end this speculation if he wanted to. That I would have liked much more.

Very true. But why does he have to say he will come back for the final year of his contract just because Mort reported he wouldn't. If he intended to honor it (and I know Pats and Jets fans will have an issue with that) then he should not have to say anything to anyone, other than honoring his initial agreement. I might look like an idiot if he decides not to come back. And in this age of voided, broken contracts and his history I understand the concerns. But I still say he signed the contract and will honor it all the way, despite many saying he has to let everyone know he will and if he doesnt it means he wont. Right or wrong I think it is an absolute joke he would take on the Detroit assignment as that team is even further away then us when he took over our reigns.

how do we know he has not talked to JJ? Why is it that if the media does not know BP has not said anything....

I keep thinking that I really want BP back, but also in the back of my mind there is a little thought creeping in that says....if Jerry would make a really good hire of a new HC maybe it would be better.

After all here is what makes me argue with myself.

BP has made me happy with the drafts, especially this years rookie group.

I love the switch to 3-4, but Zimmer has not run it as aggressive as I would like. I hope we have both new OC and DC with a more aggressive style in general.

I have not loved the play calling either and not just this year and if BP didn't like it then he would have taken that over.

BP is extremely hard headed....why not play one of the young QB's the last game of the season since we were out of the play off hunt? This is not the first time I would have liked to see some young guy get a chance to play in the game.

It's not like I would cheer BP leaving, it's more that I would be scared to death about who Jerry may hire to replace him. Also if BP had to hire both a new OC and DC maybe just maybe we would also have our future HC in place. Also maybe he would hire someone like Capers for our DC.

There are other things that pull me one way or the other about this, but as of yet I still hope to hear BP is staying, but maybe it's the thinking by me that him staying will give us another great draft and as HC he's better than many others keeping me safe from Jerry making a bad hire again.

Bottom Line... if I knew we would get as good or better HC if BP leaves, I would not care, but that is not a given.

yep, gotta agree. I like where we are headed, even if I am beginning to think maybe were not moving fast enough. But man, if we could get a guy that could make a difference, turn the players athletic ability loose, I am all for that. I just dont know anymore...... :bang2:

I really don't care anymore. The only thing that bothers me is that if Parcells leaves, then Jerry goes back to full control of the team. We all know what kind of GM Jerry portrays before the arrival of Bill.

I can only hope that he learned a great deal from Bill's tenure. That he at least has some knowledge on how to run a football team and keep the checkbook balanced.
