Third rounder - Demarco Murray

Glad to come on here this morning and not be the only one to think this is a boneheaded pick. good grief. a 3rd round RB? Come on...how about a guard that can block for the ones we already have.

No kidding. You build from the lines out. This needed to be a simple meat and potatoes draft. Jerry, JG, equally culpable IMO. A situational RB for your 3rd round pick? Really?? Last I checked we were not a player or two away from contending for a Super Bowl. We needed foundational pieces, not icing on the cake.

According to most comments here, this guy is not a tackle breaker either, so that fits oh so well with our shoddy run blocking.

I was willing to let the LB pick (injured player and another example of trying to "steal" talent IMO) slide. But to steadfastly ignore the interior of your aging, slow footed, oft injured OL and your DL althogether makes no sense to me.

As disappointed as I am, I am, at the same time, unfortunately, not all that surprised. This is what we do - ignore big picture and fail to illustrate consistent good football sense.

He does not fumble. He has only lost two fumbles on 759 attempts in 4 years.

You go, Fuzzy...:starspin

Again, like I said, going back into the well to early career seasons to judge on ANY player is senseless. Like I said, how many prospects change greatly, for the good OR bad, over those seasons? In your case, you want me to go back to 3 years ago to find some any hint of statistics to back up your claims.

Again, if you want to do it thinking it will benefit you, you are more than welcome to. I prefer to go by what a player has done lately in terms of production.

If you want an example, from your boy Peterson. In his junior season, he had 8 plays of 20+ yards. ........ Oh, he missed 7 games that season as well. :D

Peterson had 3 in his first game alone of his sophomore season, and I decided not to look anymore because it's pointless.

I mean, as a team, Oklahoma had 68 plays of 20+ yards last season. Murray accounted for only 9 of them.

If you want another example, Kendall Hunter (who is still available) had 13 plays of 20+ yards, and did it with 62 less touches (around 20% less touches).

Nice throw-in of the 40 time. You find me any of your trusted internet sources who believe he plays even close to that time. It's one thing to run in shorts and shirt for a straight line. It's another to throw on pads and aggressively cut while trying to keep speed.

If this was the Demarco coming out of Bishop Gorman, then the kid was a nightmare trying to tackle in the open field. He was as explosive as any RB in a while. But injuries robbed him of that ability. And you, as an OU fan, should know that.

Again, words on a screen do not hold up to factual statistics. If we wanted to make baseless assertions, I'm going to say Mike Jenkins was a ballhawk last year. :lmao:

What? It most certainly isn't useless to take a player's full college career into account. My guess is that statistics from his first two years don't benefit your "analysis." Again, you're the one presenting a flimsy case that goes against the majority. You can continue to believe what you want, but it makes me think you haven't watched him play. Just look for some of his highlight on youtube. If you don't see a guy with explosive potential, then there's no hope in this discussion. We'll see as time passes, but I like my odds. On a side note, care to share your references, in the name of honest discussion?

Again, I primarily defer to the experts and their opinions on him based on comprehensive evaluations over some cherry-picked stats on a player's career.

I love how you disregard the 40 time now, as if it is a completely useless number... Now, I'm supposed to prove that he's fast in pads, as if that's possible? This is why it would clearly be pointless to get into this any further with you. Go watch some highlights and read up on what EVERYONE is saying about him. The concerns AREN'T his big play ability, speed, etc. There are legitimate things to be concerned with regarding this kid without having to resort to imaginary ones.
