My instincts says this is it. He’d already last year looked like his skills had diminished greatly . But this year he looks even worse despite New England still winning the division.

That loss yesterday when a Bye was at stake was totally uncharacteristic of Brady and the Patriots.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose to Titans.

And Brady retires as soon as their season is over.

Brady has had a gradual decline, but nothing like Peyton falling off a cliff in 2015. What's killing them is on top of that the wheels fell off their OL and WR corps too. They've had too many guys & in out of the lineup, and too many new guys taking too long to get up to speed on their complex offense.

Brady leads the league in throwaways (to avoid sacks) and the team is 2nd in WR drops.

Their defense also hasn't been as elite as it looks on paper. Brady still gave the team the lead with under 4 minutes left, and heir defense gave up like a 3:30 TD drive to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

I enjoyed that game. Fitzpatrick was mostly Fitzmagic for most of the year.
Definitely played a part in developing Parker and Gesicki.
I just watched that game, and it was a good game, miami went all out to win, partly because NE beat them 43-0 in game 2, so I think they
wanted revenge.
The HC worked under bill for 15 years, so he knows the pats, and wanted to beat the master.
They ran trick plays, gambled, and Fitz running made a difference too. Most of his passes were to Parker who is a emerging star.
NE didnt play bad, they just got beat, it happens.

The Patriots screwed him over pretty bad this year with the lack of weapons and OL talent. I think its time for this patriots dynasty to die. Its been long enough.

Yea Brady doesn’t need as many weapons but he needs some. Amazing they could still win division.

Yeah, I'm just making fun of the irony of being told all these years that Brady could get it done w/ nothing, and now it's being spouted everywhere that he needs more weapons!!!!!! Funny stuff!!

It's not like Brady's arm has declined or something. He is throwing the same.

The biggest problem that I've seen is that there is consistent pressure in his face this year. Brady has elite pocket instincts, but even he needs the middle to hold up. Couple that with the fact that he doesn't have great receivers right now and you have a season similar to his 2013 season. I'm still not entirely sure why they thought ridding of Thomas and Gordon was a good thing, at the very least, keeping Gordon for a season would have helped.

I'll say Brady is done when I see his arm strength go like it did with Manning or when Brady calls it quits himself.

How many years have we been told that Brady doesn't need weapons?

As far as I can tell, he doesn't. What's changed? The Patriots are 12-4 with that crap OL and group of WRs. That's par for the course for the Patriots.

The Patriots on average win the SB every other year. This year it looks like Brady doesn't trust most of his WRs. If he doesn't have his first read he usually throws it away. That could be due to pressure as well. But still, they're 12-4.

It would not surprise me if the Patriots cleaned that up and came back next season to terrorize the AFC again.

If the Titans win in Foxborough tonight, I wonder if the Patriot "Pillars" will contemplate moving on from the current formula.

If Brady has a bad game to finish a down year for him, does really want to stay and compete at 43? He is not the same player he was a year ago and next year doesn't look like anything will change the deteriorating performance.

Does Belichick want to stay on with a deteriorating QB and an Owner who willingly traded their best answer to a declining Brady?

Does the Owner want to risk losing a highly successful coordinator by holding on to the Old Guard at HC and QB?

It will be interesting to see how things shake out in NE if they lose tonight.

I can't remember ever seeing so much criticism of a QB who threw for 4,000 yards with 24 TD's against 8 INT's - and he did it with what is arguably the worst offensive unit of his career.

Brady insisted on being a free agent at the end of this season, and his contract was restructured to give him that. That tells me he isn't retiring. If he was retiring, he wouldn't care if he was a UFA because he would just do what Gronk did and simply walk away. If anything, this implies he either wants to go elsewhere or, at the very least, use the threat of going elsewhere as a bargaining chip for his next deal.

I'd bet you've been told that zero times. It's just the sort of thing you think other people say.

Every QB needs weapons. Good quarterbacks make those weapons even more dangerous. Even Brady/Montana/Manning/etc need protection - and players that can actually catch the ball.

I've always thought he needed weapons... but even without elite weapons, he always found a way to win.

But, he is 42 years old. There is no way the same Brady is walking out on to the field now.

They know this, and they know he is a pure pocket passer. If they wanted to keep him there, they needed to pay some cash out for that line, and weapons. If they didn't want to do that... they should have moved on from Brady.

The bean counters know how money is going to work out. So it wasn't some surprise coming that they would need to tighten some things up, with an aging Brady.

We know Brady doesn't need the money, and people can't deny his passion for the game and wanting to win. I have seen too many clips of him on the sidelines.
He should retire, but... I don't think he wants to be without football in his life. I think the guy is going to have a hard time leaving, and end up staying much longer than he should.

Media has just been dogging him though this year. One of the best to ever play the game and they have been relentless lol.

I'm surprised. I thought the Gaytriots would win this one. I didn't think they were going all the way, but I did think they would have at least one playoff win.

interesting Brady post game interview, sounded like he might be out of there

wonder who will be QB there next year if he leaves
