Let's say Dez caught it...let's say we score a TD. There would have been plenty of time left for 1-Legged Rodgers to march down the field and score. On that day, the defense was not able to stop him and was porous.

They changed the rule to cover themselves botching that play, made a complete disaster of things the following year and THEN changed it again to what it was when Dez caught it, finally with a little more clarity.
They changed the rule because the rule was dumb. Under the rule it was not a catch. We had multiple of that exact same play that were called not a catch and it was dumb. By rule that was not a catch and the rule was dumb so they changed it.

LOL- It is the same argument and will be the same arguments until infinity and beyond. It has been 9 years. I hope I am around in 10 more years to say I was here in 2014 and 2024 when this subject will be beat again to death with no movement from either argument. And I always say if the play would have happened with Jordy Nelson doing the same thing, many of you would be saying it was a non catch while others mostly Packers fans would be saying it was a catch. Seahawks fans say the fail mary monday night play was a TD while Packers fans say it was an interception. Nobodys mind will be changed on either play.

Aaron Rodgers is one of the biggest front runners of all-time with a terrible record when trailing by more than 1 point in the 4Q against winning teams.

At the time, he was 0-42 in this scenario.

Football players and coaches knew it was a catch. It was only the NFL that claimed otherwise

before admitting long afterward that it was indeed a catch

messing with the rule at all was stupid; a rule that had been around for decades was screwed with because it was Megatron and from that point on its been typical NFL stupidity

Still confusing to this day, just as ironic of the definition of a catch. Ball can nip the plane of the goal line, but a WR has to maintain IN the endzone. (Megatron rule). Way overthinked. Still confusing to this day.

Romo haters: “Romo shouldve thrown it to Beasley”

Also Romo haters: “it was a catch”
It's perfectly reasonable to hold both positions. WHY throw the ball 30 yards with 4 minutes left? It was a bad decision which REQUIRED Dez make an extraordinary play...which he almost pulled off. Were it in 2023, it's a catch.

I will say that I would prefer Romo's approach to deer-in-the-headlights Dak during the playoffs.

my memory is a little shaky, but didn't the refs gift us the game before this one? Detroit? I remember people saying it was a fair turn around because of the Lions game. shrugs.

Those people that claim that will never, and I mean NEVER admit that the Lions player had committed a blatant penalty right before that.

The part I've never understood is the ball pops up when his arm hits the ground but the ball itself didn't touch the ground and he caught it again when it popped up. That's a catch
Yes it did.

There is a video (posted here) from another angle and the ball, which was cradled in the crook of his arm and hand clearly hits the ground, which caused the ball to move.

Further, and an aspect Dallas fans ignore is, Dez' leg and the defenders leg collide. Dez started going toward the ground at that point. He was trying to reach the endzone, but clearly he was falling forward.

The catch had to be maintained through contact with the ground and not move.

Dallas fans, and I am one who thought it was a no catch to begin with, have argued the football move because he was digging toward the goal line. But the contact with the defender and his falling forward superseded all else, and when the ball popped out, it was a no catch.

We finally get a break with Aaron Rodgers moving on and away from GB.

Seems like so long as he is GB, ..we always seem to lose to him - he just had our number.

What a beautiful throw and catch. The official on the field said completed pass and if that had stood, NOBODY would've had a problem with it. That's the true test.

Oh well, water under the bridge and Dez is a Cowboy For Life of Michael Irvin proportions. Let's win this one for him.

Today is also the day that you guys are still talking about the Dez Bryan catch-non catch. Just like yesterday, the day before that and the 3,287 days in between.
I agree. People just need to let it go.

I still don’t think he caught it. He trapped it and it hit the ground. When he gets up he wasn’t throwing up no X, or being cocky. He knew it moved.
Nope, it was valid and ruled as such a couple years later after extensive film review. No mistakes or lies there. No rewrites as well. :popcorn:3rd step and past the goal line.
