the saints focused on parsons. took him out. there was no pass rush. they ran right at him. this defense was just plain awful. the DL is awful awful awful. can't get any push and gets pushed on run defense.
That's what we've been given. We've got a second-round rookie starting who wasn't a great pass rusher in college. We've got a first-round pick starting at NT who hasn't shown he should be a starter, and backed up by two old guys who not many, if any, other teams wanted. We've got a starting 3-tech who is not the game-wrecker you need at the position. We've got a veteran DE starter whose a strong run defender but isn't a great pass rusher.
Our linebackers also are on old vet and several third-rounders who haven't proven that any of them will be more than placeholding starters. We hope, but games like this show us what can happen if those players play down to the negatives against them instead of play up to the strengths that got them drafted.
