This Defense

Not sure what drive it was but Demarcus and lee were still in there.

No, they were in at the very beginning of the Cards' long drive. Ware, Hatcher, and Lee all came out after the initial first down.

1st Card drive: three and out
2nd Card drive: after Harris fumble...forced FG.
3rd Card drive: long drive after Ware draws hold. After the Cards get a first down, Ware, Lee, and Hatcher all sit.
The Cards fourth drive most starters sitting.

That team kept attacking the seams over and over again. I thought the MLB all of them were having issues with depth. Could be me but I couldn't believe how wide open guys were for the birds

Well its gotta be no pressure, right. Or LBs......maybe the CBs were sucking it up.

Or maybe, just maybe they needed some support in the middle from the safeties, which were nowhere to be found in this game.

Or that the LB's didn't get the proper depth they were suppose to be at. Could be no?

Depth? On defense??? Aside from CB where the heck do you see depth? We have a bunch of guys have done literally nothing on an NFL field behind our starters. An injury at DE, DT, or LB could be crippling.
Really? I've been pleased with the play of Hayden, Bass, and Wilber this preseason. The only thing I worry about is an injury to Ware.

Starters: Ware, Ratliff, Hatcher, Spencer
Reserves: Wilber, Hayden, Bass, Lissemore, Selvie

LB Starters: Carter, Lee, Durant
Reserves: Sims, Holloman, and Magee

I like what I see. Bass and Hayden have done well when Ware and Hatch have been in. You have to remember that our backup DL will not be in all at the same time. Yes, if we lose a bunch of guys like last year, we will be in trouble.....but no team could withstand all the hits we took last year.

Safety play has been suspect in all three games. CBs too.

Not so sure Durant has that starting spot all wrapped up. I think Sims might snag that spot. I think his speed is going to be a huge asset for this defense.

So Lee was the problem....really?!?!

One thing I'm not worried about Lee is his depth, sometimes he gets too much. Tell the safeties to make a play, then you will have your solution.

Sims is going to have to come off the injury list to have a chance at claiming any spot.

At times they've had issues, but to keep Arizona from connecting on big scoring plays today was impressive given the number of offensive plays the Cards had.

Well on Larry's longest completion, Carr would've loved some inside support from Will Allen.....but guess what none was to be found. Only play Allen made he got himself hurt on.

It was good that we didn't allow them to score alot of points, especially with all the turnovers, but the support for our CBs is still severely lacking.

"This crew" isn't going to be the one starting the season vs NY.

And I didn't think they played badly today.

Mike..

I was especially referring to the guys out right now..along with the backups.

The only way a 4-3 works is with a good rotation of about 7 guys.

We don't have 7 healthy guys much less 7 good ones.

My point only.

Of course when you're missing 1/2 of your starting defense line things aren't going to be so rosy.

But with Spencer and Ratliff added to the mix I'm not quite as concerned... But yes I would like to see some young talent added next May.

I didn't say "Lee" but we saw Church down by the line a lot. First team D seemed to do well. It was once Lee went out and church and Allen went out.

... is seriously getting consistent pressure. I cannot wait until the regular season starts!

I'm not too impressed with Hatcher as a pass rusher; he is hit or miss. Spencer and Rat need to stay healthy this season or this defense will struggle to get stops.
