Uh, no that draft wouldn't be horrible..

In the first round, we have our pick out of two explosive players in Jimmy Williams and Santonio Holmes.. it has us taking Williams.

Our secondary would be SET, and #1 in the league. Williams at FS would be ridiculous, because the guy can tackle like a safety, and cover like a corner.

In the 2nd round, according to that mock, Kamerion Wimbley was drafted 2 spots ahead of our pick. I really have to believe if he is that close to our 2nd rounder, we'd trade up.. we've shown a lot of interest in him.

A first two rounds of Jimmy Williams and Wimbley would make me wet my pants..
The Cowboys would probably trade down and take Wimbley in the first and try to get a safety in the second.

Keith Davis will be our starting FS. I just have a funny feeling about this since we haven't addressed it during FA. The earliest we may get one would be in the 3rd round. BP just doesn't put lots of emphasis on the FS position.

It's funny but there aren't a lot of picks at 18 that aren't questionable. Depth at WR is a need, but is it a 1st round need? Probably not.
I like our RB's.
We're in good shape at DE.
Offensive line is no longer the huge problem it was before Fabini signed. Winston Justice could be a nice player but you'd have to think we aren't going to go that way now.
I don't think we would go QB.
DT? I'd be happy taking Ngata or Bunkley but both will probably be gone.
Which leaves what? FS and OLB. Michael Huff will be gone. If Jimmy Williams is there he's be tough to pass over, even though that would be one expensive secondary. The thing that's interesting about Williams is he could start right away at FS but he has the talent to play corner if you have injuries or just down the road a few years.

OLB? I think overall Carpenter is the best fit for us. And I'd be inclined to take a chance and trade down if we can find a partner to do so if we're looking at him. If we go Williams in round 1 the problem is Carpenter/Wimbley/Lawson will all be gone before we pick again. I think since OLB is a much more important position that FS we will end up going with a trade down and tab Carpenter. That's my best bet. I think there are some sleeper FS prospects and if we sign a guy like Coleman we'd have a year to develop him. I have an eye on Antoine Bethea of Howard in the 5th.

I think drafting Jimmy Williams and letting him roam the secondary would be a pretty sweet idea, I mean afterall the guy can play TWO postions extremely well so that would be a great bonus!!

Jimmy Williams is being labeled as the biggest headcase in the draft. His draft stock is plummeting big-time because of his bad attitude and poor interviews. We all know BP doesn't have time for jerks (except T.O.), so there's no way in he!! he chooses this guy. He's borderline certifiable. BP is going to have his hands full keeping TO in check, he doesn't have time to babysit this jerk too.

I would take Lawson over Wimbley and I doubt Wimbley will go in the 1st.

You can make a case for Carpenter or Lawson going in the 1st.

I hope that the Cowboys have taken a good look at FS Jason Allen, was a shut down corner and then a 1st class FS and was going to come out as a 1st rounder last year but stayed in school on the basis that his coach would move him back to corner. But he got hurt, and now he's back to full speed running a 4.38 40. So basically, if you were to draft him in the 2nd, it would be a complete steal.

No way...

I think that out of all our needs, FS is just the one that is easiest to solve by the draft..

We tried patching up the OL by the draft (Peterman, Rogers), and we found out the hard way that OL doesn't produce right away.. so we went out and signed Kosier and Fabini.

FS should be a much easier transition from the college level than positions such as OL, LB(the whole 3-4 switch), so that's why I think we've went out and signed veterans to patch up the OL and the LB corps, and we'll get our FS in the draft...

I think Parcells likes Singleton okay - always called him reliable. And then there's Burnett backing him up. So, it seems like the most glaring hole that has not been addressed at all is free safety. And it seems like we might want to use a first round pick to ensure a potential starter there. Williams, Simpson, or someone else?

If Jimmy Williams is there at 18 we have to take him. He is as big as a safety runs like a corner and tackles like a LB. no way we pass him up if he is there. Besides pacells and jerry like to take chances on guys with attitudes. He's not that bad any way.
