I was very high on Troy Aikman, but his rookie season was concerning. Plus, I was having to listen to all the negative commentary about him and the team in 89 which can get to you as a fan. Most thought Aikman would lose his confidence. A lot of young QBs do lose their confidence after taking a beating and being on such a bad team. However, things turned out better than many ever imagined. I certainly have no hope for the current team. I started losing hope with the Cowboys years ago because they continue to spin their wheels under Jerry Jones. The Cowboys best shot of getting over the hump was the previous three seasons. Now the talent has diminished and they can’t compete against real good teams. Things are probably going to get worse before they ever get better. I’m just thankful I got to see all 5 of their Super Bowl wins. The first Cowboys game I ever watched was Super Bowl VI.
You're a lot older than I thought. I could have seen the first two Super Bowls, but I only saw the last one that we barely squeaked out.

Ah ok I misunderstood where you currently stand. You seem a little too enthusiastic to be the age you must be. Ha! I’m with you.

You’re making me recall some things I hadn’t thought of in some time….

I never thought that Aikman wouldn’t be the guy, and didn’t know until years later that Jimmy was still on the fence on him even after Walsh was dealt. When they picked Walsh Jimmy certainly didn’t think he was giving up the top overall pick, and neither did I. I figured he would flip him for more picks…which he eventually did but not the same value. That player could have been Cortez Kennedy but Im pretty sure Jimmy once said it would have been Junior Seau. I remember he wanted LB James Francis instead of Emmitt in the same draft so that makes sense.

Back to now/reality…..this organization needs something similar to 1989….a complete radical change at the top but I doubt we are anywhere close to that, so I suppose we are going to have to endure 1986/87/88 until one thing or another forces change.

I was 7 years old when I watched Super Bowl VI. I’ve been a diehard Cowboys fan ever ever since. I haven’t been that enthusiastic about the teams prospects for a championship in many years. Jerry has the organization spinning its wheels. The current team looks at dismal to say the least. I may have already mentioned it, but not even the 89 team took the beatings this team is taking. To see us get bullied at home the way we have is pretty demoralizing. It could be worse next season because the team is going to lose more players and we may not be very active in free agency again due to cap issues and having to pay Parsons. We could be looking at some pretty lean years ahead. I’m hoping they might decide to trade Parsons.

Yeah, I’ll be 60 pretty soon. Some see the Ferrari avatar and think I’m younger I guess. I couldn’t afford a car like that in my 20s. I saw the first Super Bowl we won under Jimmy in person at the Rose Bowl. Paid $3500 to a scalper for a couple of seats. That almost cleaned me out, but I had to go. There’s a bridge not far from the Rose Bowl that I might have jumped off had the Cowboys lost.

Fully agree that the best opportunity was the past three seasons.

That’s actually my biggest gripe, they just fail to recognize certain things…like windows of opportunity and the inevitable down cycle that the system creates. They think they can beat that by not participating in free agency.

So, we held back and fell short personnel wise, yet still have cap problems. They just flat out aren’t good at this, and I’m not really sure where it eventually goes. Difficult to even speculate.

There’s just no oomph. No real breakout star or fun coach. No life right now. It’s jsut coming across like a really old player out franchise in upper management. And a really young over matched roster on the field.

Marist lafau? Calen Carson? Cooper beebee ? Rico doodle? Some of the young players have honestly been put in an unfair spot by having to step right in and do so much. They kind of gave these guys no shot from the beginning.
Look man, Jerseys are selling, food & beverage is selling, parking receipts are good... Jerry's Bottom Line looks Good. The fact he has no Conference or League Title is not even on the same level as not having a Good Bottom Line. Jerry has built a Football Empire that is fail-proof.

It's a team run by morons sadly. It lacks common sense from the guys who micromanage and make every single decision while overriding the coaches. Imagine the 82 year old owner telling the coach who will start, how much playing time etc.. It's absolutely nuts.
