This game will be won with our secondary. Philly is a pass happy team by far. It won't matter how much we pass if McNabb is allowed to distribute his passes to a variety of players. In fact, how well we can defend the pass will directly determine what approach we take on offense. I know some of us would like to dictate the tempo of the game on offense but I will bet YOUR house (I have an apartment) that our game will be determined by our defensive presence in the game.
If we are containing their offense and creating good pressure on the QB, we will play the same conservative offense that you have all come to hate. We will take our shots but we will not be overly aggressive because turnovers provide momentum for the opposing team and that's the last thing we want to give Philly.

I'd love to see Drew "take the game over", (sucessfully) but Bill doesn't trust him to, not even as much as he trusted Vinny, so if Drew does indeed 'take it over", it'll have to be via mutiny.
Luckily, Drew's got Terry and Key in insubordination mood too - lmao - "the only thing that can stop us is the play calling". The playcalling, yeah, along with too short routes on 4th down and penalties calling back TDs.

Other than that, it will be to keep their offense off of the field as much as possible and take our shots when they present themselves and try to contain their passing game as best we can.

Yeah, still it would be nice if the falling behind wasn't inevitable because we can't score in the first quarter. If the run blocking is there from the get-go, we have a chance.Martice said:

Philly has some amazing stats on forcing three-and-outs, so even more reason for Bill not to want to 'waste' first downs throwing
..everything's conspired to force even more emphasis on ball control and keeping the potent Philly O off the field, but deep inside many of us seem to believe the only chance we have of beating a team that is schematically, talent, and execution-wise our superior is if a few key players step up BIG.Hopefully, that occurs on defense and Tnew or Dat or Ware et al make some momentum producing plays...

At the end of the game, the one who can claim the most positive plays usually comes away with the victory. If we win with JJ running for 100 yards that great. If we win with JJ gaining 25 yards that's not as great as the 100 yard game but I will take it with out hesitation. The bottom line is if we win or lose.
A team like Philly cannot be given more opportunities to win than they can create themselves. We don't need to help them at all and if that means that BP has to keep the reigns on Drew a little, then so be it.
***As you already understand LTN, a positive play does not always come in the form of long passes or long runs. A positive play could be the 2 yard run that sets up the next play on the following down.
