Garrett not contacted
Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett said he has not been contacted by any college football program looking to interview him for a head coaching job.

There have been reports and rumors as far west as UCLA and as far north as Michigan that Garrett is on a list of candidates.

"I haven't been contacted by anybody," Garrett said. "My focus is the Cowboys and this job. I've got the greatest job in the world."

JG will be our new HC heading into the new stadium. To be the HC of AMERICAS TEAM, getting a new stadium, and having a QB like Romo is worth waiting around for . And I'm sure JJ will financially reward him handsomely to do so. JG is going nowhere. He's a cowboy!!!!!

His comments does provide bit of relief but not to be a downer, how many times have heard some HC or coaching staff stating similar things and then later they make an announcement that they have a signed a contract with another team?

I hope that isn't the case with JG, but you never know.

I agree with you on this. If he would turn all that down and go somewhere else, he doesn't have the intelligence to be the new head coach and I'm convinced he's as smart as they come.

While that does happen alot, I think this is a different situation. Most times when that happens, the coach leaves to go a school where he played or was an assistant at some time in the past or its just a bigger, better program. In this case, Garrett is already home. He is a Cowboy at heart. He played here for the bulk of his career, his closest friends are former Cowboys, he has 3 superbowl rings that say Cowboys on them, and Cowboy fans love him. I believe his goal is to be the head coach of the Cowboys for 15-20 years and take the team back to days of Landry when they made the playoffs every year and were real contenders almost every year. If Jones will pony up more money, I cannot see him throwing all that away to go coach some crappy team that didn't perform for their last coach. In Dallas, he will have a very good team to start with, a top 5 franchise QB, the best stadium in the world to coach in, an owner willing to spend money to win, the biggest stage in all of football in which to perform, and millions of fans who already think he's a football god. If he can't wait another 2 years for all of that, I might start to question his judgement a little.

I like his attitude and like hearing him say that.

We've discussed it before on this forum but if the team keeps winning and we win a SB or two, I just cannot fathom Wade being fired or not having his contract renewed when it's up. I'd like to see Jason as our next HC also, but I don't want to see Wade run out of town prematurely either.

Wade is the one who has set the tone for this team and really got them to gel as a "family". The team attitude, aggressiveness, taking advantage of players strengths, etc. all start with Wade.

All JG needs to do is see what happened to two Dallas assistants who did not have the patience to wait. Norv left to Washington just prior to Jimmie's departure or he probably would have been the HC of America's Team----he has now bounced around the league with teams he would still leave for the Cowboys.

Sean Payton went to NO for quick satisfaction only to have Parcells quit the following year or he could have been the HC as well. Payton had a good year last year only because they played out of their minds and over their heads---now they have come back down, and "THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE"...

JG needs to wait a few years and he can get his dream job---he is still young and can afford to wait, as long as Jerry ponies up Let's hope he is smarter than Norv or Sean and has a bit more patience.

I think you guys are engaged in wishful thinking.

Scenario: You work for a good company in a management position. Your boss comes in and says, "Here's a nice raise and I want you to know we have big plans for you. Continue to do a good job and in 3 years we'll promote you to VP."

You are then contacted by a headhunter who sets you up with an interview with a competitor company. The competitor's chairman says, "We've been watching you and we like your performance. We want you to come to work for us. We are offering you a VP position and a "life changing" raise right now. While we are having some problems, you can name your own staff. You can craft the turnaround plan. If you are successful, the sky is the limit.

There is not a person here who would not seriously consider that offer. Jason Garrett may well get MULTIPLE offers similar to this. Garrett would be incredibly foolish (not to mention dumb) NOT to consider these offers. IMO he WILL be interviwed for HC positions in the off-season. I don't know where he'll stand, but I expect his name will come up for virtually every head coaching vacancy that arises.

You guys enjoy your kool-aid, but we are going to have be incredibly fortunate (and Jerry will have to be brilliant) to see Garrett on the Cowboys sideline next season.

Or Romo gets hurt and T.O. retires, the Cowboys offense takes a nose dive and now instead of being Boy Wonder Offensive Coordinator, he's now an average coordinator who benefited from Wonderful Talent.

You strike while the iron's hot. If you want around and are too patient, situations change and you may not be the hot prospect anymore nor have many people knocking on your door.

As good as TO has played, he is replaceable in this offense...Romo on the other hand, well it can be said the same about any other QB, Brady, Manning, whoever.....their team goes in the dumper so what is your point? Do you think even Belicheat has option B for becoming the Greatest Team Ever?

As for bird in the hand thing, depends on what type of bird you have in your hand and what is in the bush....

I agree 100% with your statement about the contribution of Wade.
