This team doesn't need any more wow playmakers, but rather have to fortify the trenches, become more physical and win the line of scrimmage:

No, it is never exciting to draft an Offensive Lineman, NT, two down linebacker and a blocking TE. Team has to become a strong running team and be able to stop the run. If they continue to ignore the trenches, almost impossible to win in this league. Just look at the last 2 SB losers, they lost cause they couldn't hold up at the line of scrimmage.

I would start and sign a Ryan Jenson to become our starting center. Brings toughness and physicality to the position. It will allow the team to ahead into the draft not forcing to draft for need. Would love to team him up with a Trevor Penning who reminds me of Marc Columbo. Draft a damn NT already,

I just watched a video on the draft, salary cap, and free agency and I don't see a way they can bring in any big ticket free agents. I definitely agree with your premise, our run defense and OL play are not playoff caliber. Despite having a lot of cap space tied up in the offensive line.

NT
Jordan Davis
Neil Farrell
Travis Jones

OC
Tyler Linderbaum
Luke Fortner

OG
Kenyon Green
Zion Johnson

I agree to an extent but I'm still going to do everything I can to have as dynamic an offense as possible. I think you can argue 5 of the last 6 SB Winners have had top 5/7ish passing Os. But yea it doesn't matter if you can't protect the QB.

I love the idea of drafting Jensen and taking a LG in one of the 1st 3 rounds as a step in the right direction. Outside of that I'm not going to go in and force picks at positions. Take the best talent as long term that is what will build the best team.

Filling 1 need along the OL, allows the team to not need to force a pick. As I see it now, almost have to draft an interior lineman by the end of the 2nd day.

There is a lot of depth at the Guard position, but not so much at Center. I am confident that there will be a good option at NT with our 2nd rd pick, if the board shakes out that way.

And not some late round afterthought.

If they could somehow make the money work to sign Jansen (C) and Hicks (DT) that would be a great start IMO.

Then you hopefully get Gally healthy next year and a full offseason for Osa to get stronger and bulk. Add another NT and hope you hit on that person or Bohanna. I'd be feeling as good as I've felt about the DT position in a long time just not sure if the money works to sign Hicks to a short term deal.

Don’t know how much Jensen has left in the tank but he was integral to the Bucs Super Bowl run. It would also be nice to add his tenacity and attitude to our o-line.

Be careful getting your hopes up for a center. The Cowboys like the guy they already have. I know the local draft shows are pumping the Iowa center up but if you look at the history of the Cowboys, they will draft an offensive linemen with the ability to play multiple spots. I think they are looking at a tackle that can play guard. Green is probably the ideal pick.

Agree...I think the Cowboys are also in a win now window with Martin / Smith getting older and older. I'd push for a short term deal for guys like Jensen / Hicks who would both come in and be upgrades day 1 why also still trying to find guys to develop.

I agree with the direction your going. Cowboys need to fortify the trenches to help the other position groups be successful.

OL - instead of looking at a UFA center I can see the them going after a LG like Hernandez. Then, adding another guy in the draft.

NT - although this team doesn't value the position they need to protect #11. The draft will have a guy in round two, but I look for them to sign a cheap veteran, so they can draft a glamor position. I could see a move like re-signing Urban or Watkins.

According to overthecap, Simple restructuring would net the team $49 million in cap. Maximum restructuring would net $66 million in cap space. It did not list the players and yes, it's kicking the can down the line. But to simply say they can't bring in any free agents is just not true.

The truth is, they just won't.

There is a lot of depth at guard but assuming Williams isn't retained, after the top two or three they would be better off with McGovern or Farniok day one to give them some time to develop.

If Linderbaum is gone I like the Center from UK who can also play guard. He can make all the line calls like Fredrick used to do.

They could get more than that if they wanted to go all in, it just depends on if you want to push the money out and be in a worse situation later like the Rams did.

Both players are over 30, it will depend on the market and the willingness to sign quality starters. I have my doubts based on how Stephen has used fa in the past.

Something this group really lacks and needs!

It's genius when you win like the Rams.

In Dallas, the point is simply futile sadly.

If you read the tea leaves, that is exactly what they will be targeting. Find a Tackle who can play either position and plug him in where needed.

I agree, this is the most likely path based on what we have seen in fa. With such a shallow Center class, rather address that need with a veteran.

I don't know if you watched the video but he had a good point about trading for a player when it looks like you have a shot at doing something in the playoffs w/o breaking the bank. The Chiefs did that and upgraded their front seven with Melvin Ingram.
