What is the blueprint?? Covering our lousy WR's when they are running 20 yard out routes??
This! Why all the medium to long routes now? Did Linehan decide Dak has graduated rookie school and now refuses to give him anything underneath? And one screen pass? The last three games follow this game plan to as tee and unfortunately it seems none of our WRs can win one on one match-ups. I love the touchdown play with the play-action, but we also saw a lot of telegraphing with the play calling. Our 1st series is a prime example - we always run on 1st down so we did, we go empty backfield with 2nd down (duh, pass play), and 3rd down is full of long routes (because we're behind on the sticks) and the defense blitzes the crap out of us.
As to Dak - I think we found his weakness - cold weather. Even when he got time to set his feet his throws were high or lead too far or too low. They were all over the map. It didn't help that he had no receivers open, but again we don't run many pick plays like the Patriots so we don't get their highlight reels. It also didn't help that we have a massive rushing attack but the only play-action we call is the bootleg. Has anyone noticed most of our play-action consists of running until they stop us and then trying a play-action the next play? Lol...
Dez - no effort means no production. Nuf said.
The Defense - amazing. Turnovers!!!!! Pressure!!!!! We got gassed at the end of the game but this was some exciting defensive action! Loved it!
Sean Lee - best defensive player we have and probably just as much an MVP candidate for us as Dak and Elliott. He is inside the opponents head every week and just seems to know the plays before they hike the ball. Too bad he doesn't have any help! Hat's off to him for being such a professional and having such a passion for the game!
