1) Don't they wear turbans in India??

2) How do you tell the back of a turban from the front??

3) How does a backwards hat ward off man-eating tigers?? Does it work equally well as a defense against cobras, or do they like backwards hats??

Something about this does not make sense, LOL...

They actually wear hats backwards and have this mask on the back of their heads, too. It's so the tigers think the men see them and aren't sneaking up on them.

I saw that special on Animal Planet, too. ;)

This is funny to me. Seriously, I have problems with the backwards or cocked to the side style that is in today. It does get old but hey, it's there time, not mine. In my time, I too wore caps backwards. I don't know who mentioned it but I played Baseball as a kid and I wore my cap backwards too. I remember sliding drills and running the bases and I know that I wore my cap backwards for those. Still, I'm a cap forward guy. It might get tilted a little every once and again but that's just by happenstance. It's not something I do by design.

Having said all this, I have to go back to 83 or so. As I recall, one of the most famous photos in NFL history is one of Dan Marino as a young kid in Miami. He's throwing the football and he has his cap on backwards. He has that smile on and it's one of the pictures that you see get reproduced all the time. I wonder why the NFL still uses this photo if wearing your cap backwards is sucha no-no? I suspect that there is not much to this but I guess we'll see.

I don't get it.

Having a dense day possibly.
Me neither, but I kinda remember this episode of The Simpsons. I think that Bart had to do some community service or something like that and he ended up landing a job as a greeter at a Springfield brothel. Anything goes in Springfield on that show.

As long as Romo plays like he does on the field and doesn't get in problems off the field, I don't care if he wears a pink tutu.

I'm guessing that once again something I have said is an issue somewhere else.

Just put a logo on the back.

Actually it would make a whole new line of hats for Reebok to sell for the guys that wear it backwards. Im serious he could start a nationwide fad for hats MEANT to be worn backwards with logos on the other side?

You know I was joking when I first started typing this but you know what?? The more I think about it the more this seems like something Romo could pull off and that would sell.

Better yet have it Velcro attached so it could be applied to either side! LOL

The NFL probably wouldn't either as long as it's an "official NFL" tutu.

Sounds silly at first, but it actually a kind of neat idea.

I Am hearing all around the nfl and radio that they want tony romo to stop wear in his hat backwards what the hell

Exactly!

If the NFL did not crack down on Landry's dumb little hats, why should they worry about a backward cap?

As always, I concur fully with all you write.

No, Hos. It has nothing at all to do with an issue being had "somewhere else". Please.

It has everything to do with your assertion of starting the fad of wearing your hat backwards. Do you honestly think that people would buy that? You stated earlier in this thread in response to someone that you had started the fad right around '75. If you'd like, I can show you pictures of my own family members wearing their hats backwards in the sixties.

You've thrown some whopper stories of your experiences out there before. But this one takes the cake. You really think people would buy the fact you started a fad that's been around world wide, for a loooooong time? Just for arguments sake, how old are you? If you started this fad around '75, you must have started riding motorcycles at an awfully young age.

Please tell me you were joking.

That is not the proper way to wear a ball cap. I agree, he needs to wear it correctly or not wear it at all............

It's a marketing thing actually................

ND, I honestly don't care who started the "fad." I was kidding around. Throughout the thread I mention that people "made fun of me." They did. I didn't care then. I don't care now. Sometimes I wear my cap backwards now. Sometimes I don't. Is this really worth the turmoil? Who the hell cares?

I didn't throw out 1975. For all I know that could be before I was doing it. I started riding dirt bikes in 1970 and 71. I was in the first grade. I had my first wreck at 6 years old. Another kid was also involved. He's still alive. If you want a first hand account that I was indeed riding as far back as that I can try and find him for you. I was wearing helmets then, but I started not wearing them while still in elementary school. I knew when the Deputy was not around and I could get away with it. I have no idea if that was 1972 through somewhere in 1976 when I finally left the 6th grade. I was responding to ice's comment that he started doing it back then.

Yes, I know Catchers turned them around backwards. I played Catcher. I also know welders who would turn them around when they put on the helmet. Pretty sure people were welding before I was born too. But I know of no one who did it all the time like I did. Does that mean I was the genesis of a fashion statement? Highly unlikely because for it to catch on it needed exposure.

I was kidding around as a show of support for Tony Romo against the notion that him doing this is somehow insulting. I figured that was pretty obvious.

As for the "whoppers" I supposedly tell, any time someone wants to pay for the lie detector test I will send them results. I don't lie. It serves me no purpose. Especially the things I've been accused of lying about by those guys.

Hos, even tho it's a nitpicky thing, I think the most important point that you left out of your claim that some are taking exception to is: "where I'm from, or where I grew up." Looking at your original post, had you added that(quoted to be sure.); I doubt nobody would've said a word. JMO.

I like it.

I think fans at the stadium should wear theirs backwards to show support.

Cheers. I started the fad of being a tripod.

I doubt that would help.

If the statement "I think fans at the stadium should wear theirs backwards to show support" isn't taken as tongue in cheek, nothing else I said would have been either.

Does anyone really believe I would expect the entire stadium to do this? I doubt it. Yet the rest was taken seriously.

It isn't nitpicky, I just don't think it would have mattered.

I just now noticed this post as I was reading back through the thread, and would just like to say "thank you."

I was beginning to wonder. I mean given Jack Russell's post and Cobra's some people are getting the fact I was clowning around.
