They actually wear hats backwards and have this mask on the back of their heads, too. It's so the tigers think the men see them and aren't sneaking up on them.

This is funny to me. Seriously, I have problems with the backwards or cocked to the side style that is in today. It does get old but hey, it's there time, not mine. In my time, I too wore caps backwards. I don't know who mentioned it but I played Baseball as a kid and I wore my cap backwards too. I remember sliding drills and running the bases and I know that I wore my cap backwards for those. Still, I'm a cap forward guy. It might get tilted a little every once and again but that's just by happenstance. It's not something I do by design.

Having said all this, I have to go back to 83 or so. As I recall, one of the most famous photos in NFL history is one of Dan Marino as a young kid in Miami. He's throwing the football and he has his cap on backwards. He has that smile on and it's one of the pictures that you see get reproduced all the time. I wonder why the NFL still uses this photo if wearing your cap backwards is sucha no-no? I suspect that there is not much to this but I guess we'll see.

It has everything to do with your assertion of starting the fad of wearing your hat backwards. Do you honestly think that people would buy that? You stated earlier in this thread in response to someone that you had started the fad right around '75. If you'd like, I can show you pictures of my own family members wearing their hats backwards in the sixties.

You've thrown some whopper stories of your experiences out there before. But this one takes the cake. You really think people would buy the fact you started a fad that's been around world wide, for a loooooong time? Just for arguments sake, how old are you? If you started this fad around '75, you must have started riding motorcycles at an awfully young age.

I didn't throw out 1975. For all I know that could be before I was doing it. I started riding dirt bikes in 1970 and 71. I was in the first grade. I had my first wreck at 6 years old. Another kid was also involved. He's still alive. If you want a first hand account that I was indeed riding as far back as that I can try and find him for you. I was wearing helmets then, but I started not wearing them while still in elementary school. I knew when the Deputy was not around and I could get away with it. I have no idea if that was 1972 through somewhere in 1976 when I finally left the 6th grade. I was responding to ice's comment that he started doing it back then.

Yes, I know Catchers turned them around backwards. I played Catcher. I also know welders who would turn them around when they put on the helmet. Pretty sure people were welding before I was born too. But I know of no one who did it all the time like I did. Does that mean I was the genesis of a fashion statement? Highly unlikely because for it to catch on it needed exposure.

I was kidding around as a show of support for Tony Romo against the notion that him doing this is somehow insulting. I figured that was pretty obvious.

As for the "whoppers" I supposedly tell, any time someone wants to pay for the lie detector test I will send them results. I don't lie. It serves me no purpose. Especially the things I've been accused of lying about by those guys.

I started the backwards cap fad. No one was doing it back when I did. I did it because I rode motorcycles and I didn't want it to blow off. I got used to it and wouldn't turn it around.
