Quite frankly, I hope that the criticism inspires Tony Romo. He understands what he can do and what has went wrong for him in the past. He knows what kind of weapons surround him; and, most of all, he can see the road laid out before him.

Now, he must travel it. Let the criticism push him forward. If he can harness that energy positively, it'll pay off in the end.

Keep that optimism. He is too aloof for that. I dont see that drive in him. Dont get me wrong. He likes to compete but I dont know if feeds off criticism like some do.

He is more of a "We will get them next time" type of guy.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Unless he thinks privately otherwise, you might be right. He doesn't let much affect him and is rather nonchalant about the barbs and lets it slide off and doesn't take a lot of it in.

I can't say if that's good or bad, everyone handles it differently. I do know it would be nicer to see him respond with competitive stance, but he doesn't come out like that and never has. If he started now, it would look very odd.

You are essentially the same team that more recently went 9-7.

How is that?

At least 2 new starters on Offense since last year

4 new starters on Defense since last year.

Optimism isn't unrealistic in this case. Romo doesn't live in a vacuum, even though some of his observers may think or wish it to be so. As you said, he's a competitor and competitors always have something to prove.

There may be some sort of psychological scale out there which measures how effective criticism motivates individuals and to what degree, but I believe it's safe to say that whatever works for one person doesn't necessarily have to be the same for another.

I wouldn't frame him as being 'aloof'. His off-the-field nonchalant demeanor doesn't always remain with him on the field. Not many folks can be described as being emotionally detached after being tackled short of the endzone in a playoff game and squalling like a 16 month old; or appearing very (quite) visibly agitated by teammates mental mistakes during a crucial fourth quarter drive in another playoff game. Just my opinion.

There is an obvious drive within Romo on Sundays, but what clouds others' self-opinion of him is his indifference to public opinion outside those 60 minutes of play. Certainly, he could care more, but as long as his cool approach for handling the public doesn't interfere with his flexibility to direct the offense on gamedays, it's an attitude which the public will have to deal with.

Let me explain...

First off someone please explain why in the hell are the g-men( last I checked the dc is gone and there biggest pick up was our trash tuhhh and oh yea there #1 receiver is gone), chargers( LT sucks, no receivers), colts(choke everyear in the playoffs and marvin is gone), Pats ( brady is coming of a knee injury ex. mcnabb) etc getting all this hype. The cowboys get bashed for doing something the media said needed to be done in order for us to be a championship calliber (sp) team, which was cut the trash pretty much. The only thing were missing from the 13-3 year is T.O pretty much.

And last but not least why do we have all this hate for Romo, what has he done other then getting us mentioned in the super bowl talk? Now please some1 explain that to me, don't say it's not in these blogs either. " TONY TURNOVER" is what he's mostly called by, It's pathetic imo :star:
Read Hos' sig...that's all any 'Boys' fan should do when they feel "hated" on! Anyways, after last season do you really think we need any accolades thrown our way? I say let them beat us down now & if the moves Dallas made were for the better, JJ & co. will be serving a very large platter of crow (even though if it got to that point the mediots would be fawning all over us)!

Then the idea that you are essentially the same team as 07 is bunk as well.

Are there any teams besides Dallas which you would claim as being basically unchanged since 2007 and/or 2008?

No, but the original poster said that this is essentially the same team that went 13-3 in 2007. He meant it as a reason why you should be considered elite for 2009. My response is meant to refute why that particular statistic is basically useless as evidence to your "elite" status.

I will give you the fact that LT is on the downside of his career but to say the Chargers have no receivers? Come on...do you even watch football? That is a stupid comment.

The Chargers have Antonio gates (One of the best TE's in the leugue), Chris Chambers, Vincent Jackson, Buster Davis, Malcom Floyd, Legadu Neenaa, etc....give me a break.

No receivers must be the reason that Rivers was one of the highest rated QB's in the league last year. That happens a lot when you have no one to throw the ball too.

The Pats will be back in the hunt this year as well. Brady will be fully recovered. He is nothing like McNabb - a guy came in and hit him low while he was throwing the ball. Could have happened to anyone.

The Giants are still a young talented team that added players this offseason. They will be a good tem as well. Canty was not Trash..he was a good player for us that we could not afford to keep.

Get your facts straight, or at least have a decent angle on the subject before posting....it helps.

how bout you go and watch some tape, clearly the chargers are and were a runnig team the downslide year the LT had they go 9-7, gates is also on his down fall and the receivers you named :D :laugh2: :laugh1: gimme a ****ing brake bro
