I've said it before and i'll say it again, the only way this team will win a SB is if we have all pros at every position with all pros backing them up. we dont have the coaching or in game adjustments needed to beat teams. unless we can run it down there throats..... we are a very mediocre team.

This is why 10 teams records have completely flipped flopped in only 1season. In a league full of parity you don’t need to rebuild to drastically improve your record...this is the result of parity.

Some years one team is good, the next year another team is good. It's not parity at all, the power in the NFL is in constant flux. The examples you gave describes chaos not parity. True, but everyone one of those teams have been to conference championships or Superbowls since we last did.
The fact that The Cowboys have been worse than all those teams for the better part of 25 years sucks!!! At least those teams get to experience it once in a while.

This is more than just parity, it is the new practice rules from the last CBA.

The level of play has been on the decline every year since.

I think this is a major part of it. Some teams violate the padded practice rule (Seattle, Pittsburgh) and hope they don't get caught. I remember a few years ago Ryan Clark formally of the Steelers said when he was the players' rep and they practiced tackling in pads all the time and there was no way HE was reporting it to the union.

I can guarantee you Garrett has never broken this rule. He didn't even practice tackling in training camp when it was permitted and it shows.

I think it may help to face some uncomfortable truths in times like these.
We are not unique in our disgust for how our team keeps letting us down my fellow cowboys fans.

Let's take a look at the reality of what parity has done to the NFL.

The Eagles were 7-9 last season. This year 8-1.
The Giants were 11-5 last season. This year 1-8.
The Rams were 4-12 last season. This year 7-2.
The Vikings were 8-8 last season. This year 7-2.
The Saints were 7-9 last season. This year 7-2.
The Panthers were 6-10 last season. This year 6-3.
The Falcons were 11-5 last season. This year 5-4.
The Jags were 3-13 last season. This year 6-3.
The Raiders were 12-4 last season. This year 4-5.
We were 13-3 last season. This year 5-4.

I may have missed a couple. But this wild swing from one year to the next is the reality for 10 teams so far this year. These are not just a couple of games here or there but huge swings from really good to really bad or really bad to really good. It was only a season ago that we were on the up swing of a similar scenario.

This is just the reality of the modern day NFL. I personally think it sucks and keeps the star power down in the league.
What we are experiencing is the new normal unfortunately.

It just puts the emphasis on coaches and front office. If the front office plans and builds team the right way, and coaches coach well you are successful, big names help the cause but FO and Coaches can make up for lack of super star talent big time.

Sean Payton and Brees didnt just wake up and remember how to coach and play in the offseason.
In fact my argument would be that we need a staff like the very few teams that dont suffer these roller coaster seasons. The Steelers are still playing well. The patriots are always good. Even the Seahawks are consistent contenders.

Also the Packers and Steelers are in it every year short of the QB getting killed or a crazy rash of injuries, which could derail you in any era. The Seahawks too. The Ravens had a long run of contending in the 2000s but are finally winding down it looks like. Arguably the Giants under Coughlin fell into that category too, but were more up and down year to year so it's debatable I guess. The Peyton era Colts were always in the playoff hunt (where he usually choked it away, but still.)

The genuinely well run franchises stay on top, the mediocre ones are 50/50 and the bad ones stay in the toilet. Nothing really new in that respect.

Guess where the Cowboys are.

Look the top teams in the NFC are the eagles, Vikings, Saints and Rams.
4 teams that didn’t even sniff the playoffs last season. This isn’t an excuse. It’s a fact.

Maybe instead of the dismissive excuse of "parity", you look at bigger picture, and why these teams that are rising and falling are actually accomplishing things? While Garrett and his Cowboys aren't?

Look at teams like the Eagles, no matter how badly it hurts. And see where they've rebounded after the Chip Kelly debacle to have the leagues best record in two years. And ask yourself why Dallas can't string two good season together out of eight?

Parity isn't the word you need to be using, the word is mediocrity.
