The strange part...if Jerry was "just" the owner....and acted like just the owner...I would love the guy. I really would. If we never heard from him and just saw a few shots of him in his box during the game and when he made his trip to the sideline after a win, then I would love the man. But his involvement, along with his clueless son's involvement (he the maker of the secret sauce concoction) has made me hate the man. Thats right, H-A-T-E. As in 'I hate his guts'.

Jerry Jones is a very competitive, and a very proud man. He is very proud of three superbowl wins and has convinced himself that he got those wins, not Jimmy Johnson. He wants to win more of them to prove it was his work that did the trick. He needs to win more of them, and the more people tell him that he is the problem, the more determined he becomes to prove everybody wrong. So, instead of less JJ, we get more JJ.

Jerry Jones will never quit so long as when he stands all alone late at night, at team headquarters after a night of drinking, he looks at the Superbowl Trophies and sees the shadow of Jimmy Johnson on his trophy case.

As I've said before, the only way this will work is if Jerry Jones coaches the team himself. The buck would stop there. The players could not appeal to the GM if they don't like what the coach is doing. They would only answer to one man. And, the GM could not point the finger at the HC and fire him. Jerry Jones is a smart man and he knows this game and this team inside out. I'm not saying he would be a great coach, I'm just saying that this "group decision" on football matters crap would finally end. There would only be one. He would be "all in."

But, the scrutiny and pressure he would be under would be enormous. The media would laugh and point, and the only way he could shut them up would be by winning a superbowl. Anything short of that would be viewed as an egotistical failure. I think his day-to-day involvement shows he really secretly wants to coach this team, but he is too afraid of public failure to gamble his pride on winning. So, he grabs as much of the coaching position as he can: has his own TV show, press conferences, strategy and scheme discussions, and injury updates. But, just to hedge his bet, he keeps a fall guy around as the named HC. That way he can claim triumphs and blame someone else for failure. Alas, a perfect recipe for mediocrity.

Wow. Looking at the future of the Cowboys, I just depressed myself.

I find it funny when people like to throw around this word called "passion", it's obvious these guys have passion because that's why they're as good as they are.

Whining about Jerry is futile. He's here to stay whether we like it or not. I'd rather focus on getting real coach and our next qb1 in here.

Equally futile is thinking you're going to get a 'real' head coach in here. And if a real head coach did ever land in Dallas...it would be short term. Real NFL head coaches want nothing to do with a guy like Jerry Jones interfering on a daily basis.

Yeah because you probably chit chat with NFL coaches on a daily basis and you know they don't wanna come here. Gimme a break.. This is the Dallas cowboys. The pinnacle of the NFL for a coach. Cowboys Yankees lakers. Those are the pinnacles in each sport. Of course there's great coaches that would love the chance to get to coach America's team. If you could get a dream job, would you turn it down because you didn't like the boss? No, that's weak and a cop out.

I swear, if I have to hear "well it happens to Bill Belichick or ::insert great coach here::" again, I'm going to run up and down the street naked. You know what else happens to great coaches? Playoff appearances and Conference Championships and Super Bowls.
