This Is What I Want From This Team

You are exactly right! I own this movie and I thinks its awesome. Garrett needs to call these players out sometimes and get their best. Motivation is so important and anyone that doesn't think so has never played on a football team.

I truly think we're gathering the kinds of players who will give their all. Sean Lee is the forerunner of the latest crop of RKGs who are gonna take the Cowboys all the way, added along to some of our best vets that have always had the right spirit of effort & intensity, combined w/ skill & 'want to.'

Good things coming just up ahead ... and that's not just a homeristic generalization born of naive hope. This team is being built for the successful, long haul. I really do believe it.

It's funny you should mention Sean Lee. After watching the draft and doing individual studies on each of the pick's, I can see them as the type of guys who will witness first hand what Sean Lee's work ethic garner's him and try to emulate.

Football isn't simply about going out and doing your thing it is about pushing yourself beyond what you THINK you can endure, pushing yourself on EVERY play regardless of the score.

Lombardi was not a great innovator, his whole deal was running simple plays to perfection and motivating his players to excel on every down. When he came to the Packers in 1959 6 future HoFers were already there but that team sucked before he arrived. He MOTIVATED them to play beyond their own expectations and become great players and a great TEAM.

Landry motivated his players in a different way, by never letting anything less than their best be acceptable. He didn't need to yell or cuss, he would just teach it to them again and again until they got it. He would call out every mistake or failed assignment and point out what the player did wrong.

Embarrassment is an effective motivator. "You let the entire team down by failing to run this play properly." was the essential message behind this and the players felt HIGHLY motivated to play well for Tom.

Guys that are not properly motivated play down to the level of their competition and fail to rise up against superior teams. That's what we have seen from the Cowboys over the past decade and a half. When Jimmy was here they were sure as heck motivated!

Hopefully, Garrett can light a fire under these guys and get them to play beyond their own limitations.

I agree with you. Sean is most definitely the RKG for our new crop of RKGs to emulate. The more that pattern their work ethic after Lee's, the better ... that's for sure.
