This is why you have a backup QB, I think team is bit antsy for win!

I love Romo, but isn't a game against a team like the RAMs exactly why you play a Brad Johnson when your QB is dinged. That's another 7 days of healing. Then decide if you play Romo against Tampa.

Why have a backup like Johnson. He is a few game type guy.

I smell the brass and coaches of this team as very worried about team and mindset. I think they should tell ROMO to sit at least one week. Let Flo's arm heal, let Proctor get another game or Holland get some work. Let Gurode's ankle get 1 week better. 1 game for new Roy Williams to get acclimated without Tony.

Jerry sounded a bit desperate for a win when talking to Norm H. I actually think the team will strengthen more if they win without Romo the saviour. Everyone is forced to step up. It's a growing opportunity.

Of course, all this talk about Romo playing might be huge smoke and mirrors to throw off Rams and other teams in terms of preparation.

I just don't think it's worth playing Romo putting his hand at further risk this early against this team. The other thing is, what if the throws aren't as good, I'd rather play Vanilla against a bad team than risk a couple of fluttering picks also.

Give Romo a week to run the clipboard and take a mental break and heal that finger 1 more week. My 2 cents.

I have mixed feelings on this. Part of me says we absolutely cannot risk him if there is the possibility of further damage. Now, Jerry made it sound like there really isn't much of a chance apparently, but I don't know how much of that isn't just spin control.

At the same time, I subscribe to the Jimmy theory someone posted. When the leader of your team says he can play, he plays.

I'm looking back to the Merriman situation and trying to remember my thoughts on that. I admired his toughness but thought it was stupid to play. Now, with Tony, it's not career threatening. But the situation isn't that different in terms of you risking a lot. I admire his toughness, but do wonder if, like I thought in the Merriman situation, the team shouldn't step in and say we're not playing you until there's less risk of the injury worsening.

But then that directly contradicts my admiration of the Jimmy philosophy. So, yeah, I dunno.

Yep, Moxie is Golden. That's why I want his hand stronger before it's worth the risk.

Sometimes too much Moxie can lead to disaster. Then again I'm the guy yelling for this team to put the foot on their enemies throats and be more aggressive all the way around.

It's the Rams though, we should beat these guys with Johnson and I think the team rallies around that and welcomes Romo back when he's a bit better.

I think the Rams are missing their LT Pace or at least he's limited, their best TE is gone for season, so it's not like they are 100% healthy. They aren't scoring. Losing to them means we are beating ourselves and that is something Johnson is known NOT to do. Romo with a bum hand losing this game because he can't hold the ball or fumbles a bit more because he's numb or splinted etc. What if throws aren't accurate because of hand and we give up 2 picks, making it close. Doesn't make sense to me. I didn't look it up, but did Washington give up a TD to Ram's offense?

Situations like this is why the Cowboys pay someone like Brad Johnson to be on the roster. And I'd much rather sit Romo this week and even next week if need be so he can be ready to go against the Giants and Washington.

Also, I do disagree with the OP, with the implication that just because it's the Rams the game will be easy.

While I might have implied it, I never said the game would be "easy". No NFL game is easy anymore. Any given Sunday.

I do feel there is less risk playing the RAMs than other teams. I might want to play Romo more if we were playing the Giants or it was end of season and we were iffy to make playoffs. We aren't that desperate yet.

If a team executes they can beat you. Any time. I think Johnson just fits this type of game better than a hurt Romo. You are more likely to lose to Rams if you beat yourself.

I hear your point though.
