This LB room has some solid pieces

I disagree. I think overall, they're going to be better as a group. That's why Eberflus wanted Sanborn and Murray. They have potential he can bring out and are decent players already.

I think they make us a little better against the run than last year.
..interesting points there. They did the scouting, so the players are empathized. All we can do, is hope they pan out.

Like peeps mentioned. OVershown right now, is 50/50. Who knows what state he'll be in returning.

Nah, I think you nailed it. Liaufa was sent on blitzes a lot maybe for the reasons you listed. Sanborn may diagnose the best of the LBs in the room, so my guess is more dog blitz, but it would be awesome if Flus could do some whispering with these guys.
I can see it from your more aggressive blitz angle as well cuz they can get RB tfls on their way to the QB. But as Im sure we both agree, to sit in his base 4-3 with these existing personnel is a recipe for disaster against the run.
Hes gotta change it up.
Alternating both 3 and 5 man looks at the first level with like you said a variety of blitz packages on both run and passing downs.

I think there is very good potential with our pass rushers.
I feel just the opposite with the current run stoppers.
Not sure if there's even much of a change if comparing Quinns former group to this one.

Live or die by the sack and turnover.
While getting gang raped up the middle.

I worry about Overshown getting injured again if he does come back.

On both of his injuries, his knee ligaments snapped without there being any impact or weight from another player bending his knee.

I don't know what would cause that, honestly, nutrition maybe? But it's weird when you watch both of his injuries.
Dude?

His injury in the 2023 preseason was non-contact.

However, his injury last season was absolutely his leg getting trapped under another player and mechanically torqued due to the force of another player flying into his leg.

Ah, I had remembered it differently. I see it now. That first one was interesting tho, because there was no contact. That last injury he can't help, I see.

Interested in seeing how Eberflus comes up with the rotations, and how he develops these young LB's. It's good that he's worked with Sanborn before so the transition and helping the other learn the defense will be easier!

So far we have Overshown, Liafau, Clark, James, Sanborn, Murray

Last year we relied on Kendricks and Liafau to be our main LB's, it's good to see what we've picked up, i'm excited to see their growth, please give your thoughts
All weigh 150lbs combined.

They came her because they are dirt cheap, not because Eberflus wanted them. Im sure he wanted someone bettee

How is Dallas coaching going to utilize these players on defense? Are they going to use the strengths of the players or try to get the players to adjust to their way? Coaching makes a ton of difference, almost as much as talent.........IMO.
Spot on, Sanborn, or MLB is the focus. If Eberflus isnt going to Blitz we can concentrate on an out-and out run stopper at Mike.
Dont go Jack of all Trades, find players who can execute at one aspect......we have plenty of side to side Defense, dont use a make shift OLB up the middle, just to offset the run outside, solidify the middle and force the run outside.....otherwise we get the Jaylon Smith's of the world, coming late from the middle, just to show he was part of the play.
On other positions, this draft has moved away from position-flex, lets hope this is also the focus at LB

Just read a Landry Hat bit on my phone. Overshown shared on his instagram when the schedule was released reacting to the Thanksgiving matchup against the Chiefs "Oh yeah I'm active in this."

Every NFL team's LB group "has solid pieces" They're NFL players...

Unfortunately though, by comparison to all the other teams, our group of solid pieces is much less solid than most other teams.

A.K.A our LBers suck.

Overshown, sadly, doesn't appear long for this league. It's a brutal game...and I fear he'll already have lost a percentage of what made him special already, permanently, and he'll likely try and come back too soon instead of just bagging the season to give himself one last shot of healing. I won't be surprised if he's out of the league within 2 years due to injuries and body breaking down. Poor kid.

Wouldn't be either, the guy is built like a 3rd string WR. They don't make LB's the way they used to back in the day! Now days you're a good LB if you're 6'3 219lbs lol

sorry, color me not impressed.
Overshown has been injured more games than has played. just had another major injury, second one of his career. he was slightly above average when he played.
James is a Rookie and looks to be a special teamer...
Liafau showed a little to be above average LB. he needs to keep improving.
Sanborn who?
Murray is not on his third team in as many years...yeah former first rounder who keeps getting pushed out of his teams, but hey, he was a first rounder.

they are average. Murray is a check the box kind of LB we traded for, because Kendricks walked.

this is a sad looking bunch. needs a lot of protection from DL, specially DTs and they sucks too.
If they need protection from the DTs those guys are in trouble. The DTs are weak!

I think the LB core is better than you think.

The James pick reminds me of Reggie Robinson….people are like wth? but it’s let go because of good picks before and after it.

Maybe throw in a little Eric Scott….trading up for absolutely no reason.
Eric Scott for sure because when the pick was made it was like "why???" they didn't need to trade up for him.
