This loss is completely insignificant...

Dallas could easily be in in the same playoff position tonight as they were yesterday:

Win in Philly and in.

Just stop already.

The word IF is all over your post.

The word insignificant should have never been in the post.

The loss was dreadful. We had to win and we didn't.

Instead of hoping and praying that all this other stuff happens we should have just taken care of business.

If what followed the word "if" was some terribly unlikely scenario, I might agree with you...

What has to happen for us to make the playoffs is not unlikely in the least. The loss being dreadful or not dreadful does not change that.

Hey Nav22:"Qualifiers" in your post? You sound like the same kind of mealy mouthed, excuse making joker that Wade Phillips is.....:"Well, we are 9-6 with a good shot at the playoffs..............." Seriously....you sound 12 years old with this nonsense.

What type of significance are we talking about here?

If I'm perusing the sports section this morning, looking over schedules for the Falcons and Bucs, and applying that towards current NFC standings, sure Dallas is still alive. If those two clubs don't win out, we have life going into Philly.

This loss, to me, in entirely significant. This team does not pass the eyeball test. Two teams took the field needing a win. Only one played with real urgency. Dallas does not look the part of a playoff team.

Folks want to hang their hats on the defense, and this unit has certainly come around the last few weeks. Late in the game last night, Marshall Faulk - of all people - made the statement: The Dallas defense wants to be known as a shutdown unit. This is the part of the game where the reputation must be earned.

Or something to that effect.

That is precisely when our defense lifted its skirt for the world to see.

And I don't wish to pit this on that side of the ball. Point being, it's always going to be something. If it's not Romo throwing the ball up for grabs, there's a highly questionable call from the sidelines. Blown coverage, fingers pointing, busted protection, etc.

Once again, this club did not look prepared to play. How does that happen? In December? In week 16? In THAT GAME?

Don't bother. The questions were rhetorical.

Sorry, I can't go along with "this loss is insignificant." I get the intent of the post, but I happen to watch these games. What we are seeing on the field means much more, IMO.

only a cool-aid swigging homer would actually believe this game & the way we played it "insiginificant"

regardless of playoffs

It's not mealy-mouthed to give the scenarios.

His post is dead-on and YOU sound like a pathetic, whiny, self-loathing Cowboy fan who cannot accept disappointment.

Or a human being, who actually understands the situation.

We are 9-6. And we do have a good shot at the playoffs.

There is no insignificant losses. Ask the New England Patriots, they only lost ONE game all season.

Man up wusses. Being a "good fan" doesn't mean turning a blind eye to the dysfunctional joke this team has become. Anyone that thinks this team has any kind of a shot IF they do make the playoffs is moronic at best. Most of the guys on this board know their stuff, but there are too many lemmings and kool aid drinkers with low IQ's in this thread. Probably the same chumps who'll buy PSL's next year if Wade is still coach..........

To me...it's not about making the playoffs anymore, this team just doesn't look right and I can't imagine them beating anyone come playoff time....they are just too soft, predicatable and sloppy to beat anyone.

So you KNOW the season is over, yet you waste your time coming here and posting about a dead team that is a joke.

We found another low IQ I think...:lmao2:

You probably thought the same about the Giants game after our tough loss in Pittsburgh. No, it's not.

Wrong again.

I just get a sense that it is only a matter of time before the Cowboys blow this game wide open.

The Giants just seem flat, having trouble with pass protection and are without Brandon Jacobs and Plexico Burress.

If...

1) Atlanta or Tampa Bay lose tomorrow...

2) Philly wins tomorrow...

and

3) Atlanta and Tampa Bay both win next weekend. Atlanta hosts the 2-12 Rams, Tampa Bay hosts the 3-11 Raiders.

In this very plausible scenario, today's game is completely insignificant in the grand scheme of making the playoffs. A win wouldn't have helped us anymore than our loss did.

Why? Because since Atlanta and Tampa Bay will very likely win their week 17 games, we would've needed to clinch a spot this weekend in order for our week 17 trip to Philly to NOT be approached as a do-or-die game.

Allow me to clarify: I'm not saying losing last night didn't suck. Not only for the playoffs, but for the last game ever in Texas Stadium. Would've been real nice to go out with a W.

Would've been nice to control our own destiny. We don't control that anymore.

But we regain that "control our own destiny" status tomorrow afternoon if the Falcons or Bucs lose.

This thing's not over yet... Go Vikings, go Chargers!

Come on. Seriously? The loss is no big deal. Why do people still hold out hope for the playoffs; this collection of players? What about last nights performance makes people believe that a playoff run would result in anything but yet ANOTHER one and out. Been sayin it all season, well a few years now, this collection of talent is not ready.

Getting into the playoffs is not the goal, not when it will result in a loss. I'm sick of this team, this owner and all his BS hype.

Win and we're in.

Just like they did last night at 7pm, your Dallas Cowboys control their playoff destiny.

Thanks, Chargers. You just handed us a pass for the egg we laid last night.

In...sig...nificant... in regards to our playoff chances. Assuming the Falcons AND Eagles don't also lose today.

Sky still falling?

Or can some of you Negative Nancies get past this L sometime before next Sunday and get PUMPED about the Eagles game? :)
