In 06, we beat the colts convincingly.

In 07, we absolutely handed the Giants their butts twice in the regular season.

We totally handled the 08 Steelers in their house until our QB's allergies started acting up.

The 2009 Saints weren't spared either. We went in their house (who dat?) and made Brees look pedestrian.

The you guys take any consolation in that, thinking it just means we're in the mix and will get there soon.

OR do you see it as an opportunity lost?

I think it's the former. We are a young team (now with some experience and have been through some adversity). We'll get there eventually. I have no doubt.

I don't really think it means anything, to be honest.

We were better than them on those days just like on another day we might have spanked the Vikings.

Just gotta keep putting the work in and hoping things come together at the right time.

I don't think it means the world but it's gotta mean something.

In the very least, it meant in all those seasons, at the end, when we compared our teams we knew the SB champs weren't better personnel wise. And that affects decision making in the offseason big time.

It has something to do with lack of leadership, chemistry, desire to win, or killer instinct.

Not sure which one, but it's GOTTA be one of them.

nope, i think it is because the best safety in the history of the league (ken hamlin) was out of our lineup for a few weeks

its GOTTA be that

The only thing that means is that our players are not playing to their potential when it matters.

Besides this last year the past Cowboy teams have folded like Lawn Chairs. So those wins or close losses against SB champs mean close to nothing to me.

I wonder why the world hates Cowboys fans.

It means the Cowboys can compete with the big boys. They just have to put it all together, which is easier said than done. Look at the Saints. Before the playoff bye, they were dead. There is NO WAY they would've won in the first round the way they were playing. But the week off came at the perfect time and they regrouped. Timing and putting it all together -- that's what the Cowboys have failed to do.

yeah made me sick that NO won. I really don't think they're even top 3 in the nfc. We would've been better off getting the #6 seed. Both Indy and NO got lucky and didn't have to play teams that probably would've beaten them. And then when NO did, they got 6 turnovers and got away with murder at home. This years nfl playoffs have actually made me a fan of the college bcs system...something I had always previously hated. A BCS superbowl this year could've been either Minnesota vs San Diego or Dallas vs San Diego based on how all the teams finished out, both of which would've been MUCH better matchups to watch and much more deserving teams. Last year's superbowl and the 2006 superbowl has soured me on the validity of playoffs. NO and pittsburgh and arizona have proven that it truly is better to be lucky than good.

You have to admit that goal line stand and rookie Choice running all over the Steelers vaunted D was inspirational that day. If not for some crazy punt bounce and a brain fart by Romo, the Cowboys would've won easily. It's all part of the growing up process.

Yes. Growing up I can see.

But you have to do it fast to win.

For the Cowboys, it's defenitely about being in the mix, but then not taking advantage of the opportunity.

The fact that the OL disappeared in the playoff loss to Minny is disheartening. Why is it that other playoff teams raise their levels of play in the playoffs but Dallas does not?

That's not a shot at Wade Phillips either because Parcells' playoff team did te same. I think it has a little more to do with having mental midgets as players at too many positions on the team. But then add to that mental lapses among some of the coaches and the wheels come off around playoff time.

There is certainly a limited window of opportunity, but using the Saints again, it took them about 4 years to get it together. You could see the promise a while back, but they finally put it all together. The Cowboys could still do the same.

2007 it was Execution. To many dropped TD passes.
2008 it was Injuries.
2009 it was lack of depth, the O-line wore out. Colombo tried to come back to early from a broken leg, Flo went down with a calf injury, and Gurode was playing with a bum knee.

No year besides 2007 makes this point even truer...

That was our Superbowl, when you beat a team twice in the regular season and have to play them a third time and lose, and then that same team that you beat twice in the division goes and wins the SB. I's sickening.

13 - 3, #1 seed in the NFC... probably would have destroyed any team in our way that year, and we draw the Giants.

All the other years, I just chalk it up to being the better team that game, or getting moral points for beating the SB winner. But there is no way I can look at 2007, and not feel cheated seeing as how we didn't beat the SB champs once... we beat them twice.
