This offseason feels different; the FO has been active

I just want to highlight the offseason so far, as some moves that seemed small might turn out to be much bigger.

In 2025, they traded for Milton and Pickens, re-signed Turpin, Osa, Furgs, Bland, and Hunter. They went through the draft, and while we’ll see how those picks pan out in a couple of years, they also brought in some key free agents. Starting with Fowler, the signing of James Houston feels underrated and could end up being a bigger impact than expected. They also bolstered their linebacker core by bringing in Murray and Sanborn.

They’ve made a lot of moves this offseason, yet people still complain and seem unhappy, which I don’t understand. Recently, they traded Parsons to gain two extra first-round picks, a starting nose tackle, and cap space to address other needs. For those who know, this was about building the team, not just saving face with Parsons.

They’ve also had talks with Tyler Smith, who’s very important, as well as Aubrey. You can’t say they’re inactive—this has been one of the most active offseasons they’ve had. From bringing in corners to strategically cutting and re-signing players for the practice squad, they’ve put in significant effort to make this team as strong as possible without overspending. Sure, people might criticize them for not splurging in free agency and sticking to bargain deals, but sometimes those smaller moves pay off.

For example, the Eagles last year brought in budget players who ended up being key contributors, while their big signing, Brian Huff, turned out to be a bust despite his $17 million-per-year contract. Sometimes, it’s the smaller moves that make the difference.

The FO has indeed been active this offseason, but the consensus around the league is that the Cowboys are worse off than they were going into last season.
And we all know that's an opinion, You don't have to share my opinion, but last year was wasted because of injuries,

if you don't see the injuries where the direct cause of US winning seven games, you can't be worse if you get all those players back and you keep your starters for most of the year.

I think that goes unsaid. 2020 and 2024 that is the similarities and the parallels to having a bad season historically bad luck with injuries that's it it's the same thing last year with San Francisco.

Get better by default, just by getting their starters back if and I mean if the disclaimer is they stay healthy...

I think that when you hear rankings and feelings that's all they are hyperbole you can make up your own anybody who thinks we're winning under seven games with a healthy team this year because they think we're worse hasn't been paying attention.

I don't want to be the voice of reason but I feel like we have a better team and maybe we don't have a contender but stay healthy The additions that we did make including a whole new coaching staff how is that not an improvement and how could you have more than 60% of this place they were going to win seven or less games...

We won 36 games two division titles and went to the playoffs three straight times in between those two injury laden seasons....

So, hey if you think we're going to be worse than last year that's your opinion mine is we've made improvements and if we stay healthy we have a chance to have a better season not worse..

their hands were forced after the 2024 debacle. I said it mid season last year when Dallas was reeling that Jerry will make one significant move in the off season either sign a FA of note or make a trade and bring a big name to make fans happy and generate hope.

the rest was just JAGs filling the roster with rejects from other teams.
and then we like to sign our own and its just that several of them came to end of their contracts at once.
I am not surprised as to what happened with Parsons. Parsons is a media type person and likes to protect his brand. Jerry is the same and as Jerry said it, he likes drama and he likes to stir things up and he did that really well, milking the Parsons saga. he never expected him not to be signed and the relationship deteriorate to the point it did. he was just working the media and expected parsons to just play along.

and what have we signed of significance? Pickens is a trade on a one year deal. Bland, Luepke and Ferguson. we like our own.
this teams is as flawed as it was last year and wouldn't surprise me at all if we finish 4th in NFCE.
and if the disaster plays out as expected, then another move this summer by Jerry. probably handing pickens a large contract.

I feel like this is par for the course with the Cowboys. The only things of note are the Pickens trade and the Parsons trade.

Let's be clear here. You pretty much tell us each offseason that Dallas improved. I can't remember the last time you sat here and said the offseason was bad and the team got worse.

Active lol. We mainly signed mostly our own guys in FA. Signed bargain bin players that came from other teams, Traded away our best player for probably 2 first rounders worth 2 second rounders and a aging DT who was injured last season.

Clark’s presence is expected to pair well with Odighizuwa on the inside. “They both can play on first and second down but also play on the rush downs,” Eberflus said. “You really get a good push in the middle there, and it’s going to be exciting to watch those guys go.” The UCLA connection between Clark and Odighizuwa, who played alongside Clark’s brother, adds another layer of chemistry.

If they had gotten Hall from the Jets, it would have been a great offseason. But again, RB by committee.
