I think most trades they disclose who they want
Probably more so in cases where it’s such a small move
Trades are made with a player in mind most of the time

I was wondering this myself but in the post draft presser, JJ was very specific that the Eagles only told Dallas that they were coming up for an offensive player.

I would absolutely love to just sit and listen on a muted line to "the phones". Fly on the wall, as they say.

Everything I've heard says teams typically will not say who they want to trade up for but will indicate which side of the ball he plays.

Bryan Broaddus has shared in the past that Jerry Jones did actually get another GM to tell him the name of the player he wanted in the trade, but that was an aberration.

Dallas was confident Philly wanted to jump New York for a WR and were likely told the move would be for an offensive player, so they agreed to move down two spots and pocket a 3rd for it.
