Titans await decision to get Oakland's Carr
By JIM WYATT • Staff Writer • April 5, 2008

The Titans were expecting to add Raiders cornerback/return man Chris Carr to their roster on Friday, but were still awaiting word from the NFL.

The Raiders had until 11 p.m. Friday, according to the Titans, to notify the NFL if they were going to match the offer sheet Carr signed with the Titans last Friday. Indications in Oakland were the Raiders would not match the one-year offer. Carr wasn't drafted, so the Titans wouldn't have to compensate the Raiders.

i don't know. Still think Titans owner Bud Adams wants his pound of flesh from Jerry Jones cause the Cowboys are thriving & Titans had to move from Houston to Nashville cause they couldn't compete/win in Texas. Adams is also a tightwad, meanspirited & classless man who wants his hour of fame for jacking Jerry.

I agree.

There seems to be a level of spite involved here.

Possibly against Jerry for Adams feeling second-best in Texas.

Possibly against Pacman for the embarrassment he's caused the Titans.

Maybe both.

But there seems to be emotion and vindictiveness involved where it shouldn't be.

I actually think Carr would've been a decent move for us to make.

Can he not play corner at all? I wonder why Crazy Al let him go for nothing.

It is odd, the report that the Titans want Jerry to pay cash as well as a draft pick for Jones seemed vindictive because I don't recall that happening too often in football.
Either was it has to get resolved before the draft. I like the idea of not being forced to draft a corner in round 1 with the acquistion of Jones but he is a big risk that could leave us high and dry at a moment's notice at our weakest positon for the season.

Is anyone else wondering why Goodell would take so long to re-instate Pacman? It seems like he doesn't care if we trade for him, he is still going to wait till training camp to review his status. If/when he gets traded to us, wouldn't it be in Pacman's best interest to join the team in workouts and get some structure to his life? And it really seems like Adams could care less about Pacman, all he is hoping for is that he doesn't go into a strip club and than lose all value.

If a CB is the highest rated on our board at the time of our selection, I take him regardless of what happens with Pacman.

Al's crazy alright. Carr could be a super talent but I wouldn't go by Al's analysis.

He has already said he wouldn't think about Pacman's reinstatement until right before training camp.

Yea, I know that, but the question was WHY? I mean, lets say that we get Pacman TODAY, it sounds like Goodell is still going to wait till training camp to evaluate his status. It just doesn't seem to be in the best interest of Pacman. And I know that Goodell shouldn't be doing everything he can for Pacman, but is it better to keep him on the outside, away from people who can help him?

well Chris Carr is officially a Titan, but I still don't think this signing for the Titans speeds up the process. I am hoping that this drags out until after the draft so we still get a CB in the first round. I am afraid that if we get Pacman before the draft we may try to look in the late rounds for a CB and I would be nervous about relying on a late round CB to be a factor his rookie season.

I read an article stating they want Pacman to repay some of his bonus money, but no metion that they were after the Cowboys for money. Who knows with the Titans though.

I am really getting stronger feelings that the Cowboys should tell the Titans to buzz off and tell Pacman to contact us after the 2008 season.

That part is all figured out now as Pacman said he would drop his claim against the Titans for not paying him his performance bonus for playing 25% of the snaps his rookie season. And they would call it square. No word if the Titans accepted that or not though.

Yea, it seems like the Titans are trying to make this personal now. It is starting to look like dealing with your crazy ex-girlfriend.

I was all for Pac with a cheap deal and late round compensation, however it appears now that the Titans want alot more than that to trade him to Dallas.

It is time to walk on this one Jerry, the Titans are just playing games now and not really trying to negotiate at all. Besides, I am not 100% convinced that Goddell is going to reinstate him. We might be trading for a player that never plays 1 down for us.

We need to walk and address the issue in the draft, lucky for us this is a very deep draft for CBs.:)

Carr joins Titans

By JIM WYATT

The Titans have added cornerback/return man Chris Carr to their roster, as Oakland failed to match the offer sheet he signed with Tennessee last week.

Since Carr wasn't drafted, the Titans won’t have to compensate the Raiders.
In three NFL seasons, Carr (5-10, 180) has played in 48 NFL contests with four starts. He ranks as the Raiders' all-time leader in career kickoff returns (201) and kickoff return yards (4,841). He played in all 16 games for Oakland in '07.

His career totals include 39 tackles, four fumble recoveries and five pass defensed, including a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown in 2006.

The Titans weren’t expecting Oakland to match the one-year offer sheet
he signed with Tennessee last Friday, but the team wasn’t notified of Oakland’s intentions. Instead, the team found out from the NFL as the Raiders let the one-week deadline pass without making a move.

Carr drew some interest as a restricted free agent, also visiting Buffalo, Carolina, and Cleveland after first visiting Tennessee.

But his agent, Buddy Baker, said recently Carr’s first pick was Tennessee. He’s expected to be in the mix as a returner, and also compete for playing time in the secondary.

“He really liked his visit there and wanted to join the Titans,’’ Baker said. "I think most people view him as an elite punt and kick returner, but he can also play in the secondary at corner and safety and can compete and contribute in the defensive backfield.

“Chris is anxious for the opportunity to compete.’’

Perhaps this will expedite things with Pacman.

This is what I am talking about when I say the Titans are playing games. Fisher says that they need an extra pick for Pack's return skills and that he will be top 3 in the NFL. They indicate they may just keep him.

Then, the Titans and Fisher sign "an elite kick returner" as the article indicates and that Carr could also play some in the secondary. Now if you have a guy that is top 3 in the NFL, why would you go out and sign another guy for the same position?

Cleary the Titans are done with Pac and he will never play another down for that team, Fisher is a freaking hypocrite with his comments. I say lets wait for Tenn to cut Pac and then just sign him in July when he "supposedly" will get reinstated.
