During his NFL Combine interview, North Carolina State DL Manny Lawson said he interviewed with the Dallas Cowboys.

So, who would you prefer, Carpenter or Lawson if we were to go OLB in the 1st round?

You're right, I'm one that is happy about that.
I think Carpenter is the best fit with the most immediate impact but I think Lawson could have the most upside potential of anyone in the draft considering where he'll probably be drafted. I don't think he'd have too much trouble playing OLB in the 3-4 and sure as heck can get to the QB and dang is that guy fast. Probably one of the top 5 ATHLETES in the draft with a lot of good ones. If we ended up trading down and missing out on Carpenter and S Holmes and Chad Jackson...Lawson would be the next guy on my board even as early as the end of round 1.
I would be concerned though about who is going to play ILB if we got Lawson though because I think Lawson is definitely an OLB guy. I think Carpenter could do well at ILB and replace Dat.
I do like Lawson a lot, unless of course he scores a 6 on the wonderlic......

Yeah, I would be happy with either Lawson or Carpenter.

Carpenter can probably play all llinebacker positions, and also blitz, while Lawson has more pressure QB ability probably. ON the low side, kinda worried about Carpenters health issues.

I would be happy if Dallas still traded down in 1st round and took either Lawson, Carpenter, Chad Jackson, he is suppose to have run 4.29 on combine field today. Or I would be happy with the offensive tackles Justice, Winstrom the offensive tackle from Miami, McNeil or Scott, kinda iffy on Scott, he has a laid back attitude.

That way with an extra pick, maybe extra 2nd or 3rd, and probably an extra pick for Glover, (I've read where Denver might want him), another extra 2nd or 3rd for Glover, we can do real good in draft.

We could get someone like Carpenter or Lawson in 1st round at lower first. Then with 2 extra picks we can get McNeil or OT from Miami or Justice (dont think Justice will last that long though. However McNeil and OT from Miami have health issues, but they would probably go quickly in 2nd round, dont think they would both be there at 18th pick in 2nd round.

With that extra 3rd pick, maybe take another OG or C, or take WR like QB-possible Reggie McNeal from Texas A&M, i heard Dallas was looking at him too. You can tell McNeal, ok, he has a possiblity at QB but first he would train at WR or S or CB with his blinding speed, moves. Believe me he does. He could be your 3rd down QB too or emergency QB if something happened to your top 2 QBs. Remember the Jets offered us a 3rd round pick last year for Tony Romo. Also, you could take or look at Manning, the defensive back dallas was looking at today from scout.com. He has blinding speed, and he is a great returner and kickoff turner too, been reported speed of 4.41 or 4.3.

Then, with our # 1, 2, 3; trade down in 1st round for 2nd or 3rd extra pick, and a trade to Denver for Glover for a 2nd or 3rd, that would give us 5 picks in first 3 rounds. You should be able to get a good OT, Linebacker or linebacker -DE, Wr, and safety, then you can add in a good OG or C for future. Just an ideal.

I would think we would go Burnett and James as our ILBers if we go Lawson, or me may put Burnett on the outside and Carpenter on the inside if we go with him. I would be VERY happy with either of those 2 guys.

If we could trade down to late in the first, pick up an additional 2nd or 3rd and snatch Lawson I would be thrilled. Lawson and Ware as OLB's is a dangerous combination; both can get to the QB and fast.

According to team sources, Kevin Burnett is going to be moved/tried there.

I'm with everyone else though, either Carpenter or Lawson would be great additions IMO IF they can sign a free safety (Hope or Demps) in free agency and also get a veteran RT (like Fabini or Ashworth).
